Messy up do?

I have just below shoulder length curly hair and I like to put it in a messy up do, but don't know what to do with the front. I don't like it scraped out of my face. I usually have a side parting. The shortest bits either side of my face are chin length and hang there, looking awful. Any ideas?

I wear my hair up in a messy up do a lot. Regarding the front, I either twist and pin it up almost like a messy quiff.
Or I backcomb it to give it volume and then pull it all back into the iPod, but it hash it lots of volume so isn't scraped iyswim!

Wow that's a funny ipod...

French plait across the front of your head?

I couldn't do a French plait to save my life! Shock

Oh yes sometimes I just plait the front and pin that back into the updo too. Just a normal plait.

The thing is normally I like my fringe hanging over my face a bit, that isn't going to be possible, is it? I feel so exposed when I scrape it back.

Could you get your fringe cut into a style that makes it possible to leave loose?
