Okay, so I bought this bra and since I've been wearing it, my boobs have been itching like CRAZY.

Is it possible to be allergic to a BRA? Shock

What the hell is that material they're using? I have never had an allergic reaction from any other bra before. Ever.

My link doesn't work.

This is the one.

I wonder if it is something to do with the type of foam they're using? or the metal? Or the material is substandard.
Something's different. I have never had an allergic reaction before.
Nickel in the underwire perhaps?

Just me then.

OP posts:
pinkfrocks · 22/05/2015 19:51

Have you washed it? You won't be reacting to the nickel unless it's exposed.

CherriesAndSlippers · 22/05/2015 19:53

I'm allergic to elastic, and sometimes there's an elastic strip running on the band which leaves me with a big red welt. Could that be it?

overshoulderboulderholder · 22/05/2015 19:53

No haven't washed it.
Worn straight from bought. Why would that make a difference?

OP posts:
overshoulderboulderholder · 22/05/2015 19:55

Cherries,
it seems to be mainly where the metal strip meets the skin (at the bottom of the cup) but there is also general all-over itching.

OP posts:
overshoulderboulderholder · 22/05/2015 19:56

I knew it was too good to be true.
I thought I'd found the perfect bra Sad

Wash it. You might be reacting to one of the chemicals used to treat the fabric (eg what they've used for sizing) or something that's gotten into it during shipping or...

overshoulderboulderholder · 22/05/2015 20:00

Okay, will wash it ripping it off as we speak

That's why I mentioned washing it- all fabrics are finished with a kind of 'finisher' ( which is why some items like wool coats lose their 'body' when cleaned) so you may be reacting to something in the material.

MoDhachaidh · 22/05/2015 20:39

I got this bra today, been wearing since early afternoon, no itching glad to say.
Very comfortable.

possibly perfect bra

Hope a wash sorts it out for you.

overshoulderboulderholder · 22/05/2015 20:49

I have just washed it and given it extra rinses.
I'm sat here in my old bra and it's just heaven. The itching has disappeared instantlyand the burning has stopped..
There is definitely something on or in that bra. Angry

they should put a warning on it or something.

Take it back! If it's not fit for purpose then get a refund.

CycleChic · 24/05/2015 07:36

It should be dry by now- op, is the itching gone?

AlternativeTentacles · 24/05/2015 07:38

I had this - but it was my nipple that itched. Every bloody time. So bad it bled :( I would leave it for months and within 10 seconds of putting it on [often by mistake as I'd forgotten it was so bad] I would be itching again.

I chucked it out.

overshoulderboulderholder · 24/05/2015 11:40

I washed it, gave it lots of extra rinses and dried it thoroughly.

Within 10 minutes of having it on, the horrendous itching started again! I ended up with such a bad case of hives I had to take piriton.

This morning, I compared it to my other bras and I've noticed this bra has a very 'rubbery' 'soft' foamy texture. It could be that it has latex in the material.
I'm not wearing it again, that's for sure. I bought the dove-grey one as well and matching pants. What a waste of money.

Alternative, was it this bra?

60% polyamide, 23% polyester and 19% elastane

I notice that's exclusive of trimmings so there could well be something in the strip around the bottom which a lot of bras have

overshoulderboulderholder · 24/05/2015 12:10

I hadn't noticed that bit, Statistic, I wonder what's in the 'trimmings'? Hmm

OP posts:
StatisticallyChallenged · 24/05/2015 12:41

Does it feel plasticy, like the strips on a strapless bra? I've known a few people have problems with strapless and it tends to be silicon AFAIK that's in those. But it could be just about anything. I'd return it though - if it brings you out in a rash it's not fit for purpose.

AlternativeTentacles · 24/05/2015 12:45

It looks like it - however mine was about 5 years ago.

Nightmare.
