Facial sun cream

I'm finding it hard to get hold of my usual one so I'm looking for a replacement that is factor 30 or above, can be worn under make up (no sliding faces) and doesn't leave a silvery white sheen.

Tried Superdrug's own one today and my foundation slid off, leaving my delightful hyperpigmentation on show Sad.

Is Clinique City Block any good?

I've been using the la Roche posay one from boots. Factor 50.

I use mineral foundation though, sparingly and not that often - so I'm not sure if my recommendation is any good to you Smile

JenniMoo · 22/05/2015 19:25

I am using the sun safe tinted one and am really happy with it. Spf 50+.

CMOTDibbler · 22/05/2015 19:27

I'm using Sunsense daily facial 50+ this year and am v impressed. I like the La Roche Posay one on its own if i want a tinted moisturiser effect

JenniMoo · 22/05/2015 19:43

I meant sun sense too.

PurpleDaisies · 22/05/2015 19:46

I use the spf 40 city block. It is really good.

pinkfrocks · 22/05/2015 19:50

I have used City Block for over 20 years but the latest tube I have is so yellow- I look ill with it on and it makes my foundation darker. I don't know if they have reformulated but it used to be MUCH pinker and now it is very yellow.

I have started to use E Lauder Day Wear lotion (in a tube) which is SPF 50, and it's also a moisturiser. I'd much rather use a separate sun screen but not one that is so dark.

Boots No 7 do one called Age Spot preventor or something and it's relatively cheap- about £12- and has SPF 50 (I think). I used it last years at times- it's ok but a tiny bit sticky.

Someone people on here recommended Japanese and Korean suncreams, and i thought I'd start with Hada Labo 50 UK creamy gel, and work my way through until i found one l liked. But I love this one. I am super pale, and crap in the sun, and I get spots from most suncreams, and I get a white cast from LRP. But this one works for me, protects, I can wear alone and no white glow, or under makeup happily. I got it from ebay.

Notfootball · 22/05/2015 22:09

A friend mentioned the white tinge from LRP so I have discounted that one.

Do Boots stock Sunsense in store or only online?

I'll attempt to get a sample of the Clinique one tomorrow. I would like to try it before I pay out for a whole tube.

I use Piz Buin allergy-have done for ten years, about £6 for a big spray bottle.

bigbuttons · 22/05/2015 22:21

I use Biore, a Japanese brand. It's amazing. Very good protection, feels like silk, totally non greasy.

Thisishowyoudisappear · 23/05/2015 06:39

Soltan Dry Touch face SPF50. It really is a lot less sticky than others, and a very good price. Even some of the expensive ones I've looked at contain loads of alcohol.

Thisishowyoudisappear · 23/05/2015 06:40

Not suggesting the alcohol causes the stickiness, but it irritates my face!

evertonmint · 23/05/2015 06:59

I have the Clarins UV Plus one which feels lovely and smooth on my skin. Initially slightly white cast but that goes as it settles on my skin.

Notfootball · 23/05/2015 07:49

Disappear how is the whiteness and make up adhesion with Soltan?

I have a sample of a kiehls one and it's brilliant, no shine and foundation or Bb cream goes on after like a dream so it works like a great primer too. It's about £30 though.

ForSaleChesterDraws · 23/05/2015 08:10

I have Biore Aqua Rich on the way to me. It gets great reviews, apparently dries matte and doesn't leave a white cast. I'm excited to get it!

AwayAndRunUpMaHumf · 23/05/2015 08:18

I use Ultrasun face 50, they also do a tinted one. Pricey but worth it.
