Washing make up brushes - how often do you?

I say this because i have just used a new brush to apply my under eye concealer. My instinct is to wash it. I did actually wash it with some soapy and water. I cant imagine me doing this everytime but i have never used a creamy thing with a brush if you know what i mean! Im fine not washing powder on brushes as you can kind of dust and shake it off. What do you do with cream things on brushes. Do you wash them everytime?

I got some brush cleaner from No7. I wash mine every month.
I imagine there will be posters who wash brushes that apply liquid or creams every day.

I wash my brushes once a week, more often if needed. My eyeliner brush is washed after every use as I think it is nicer to use when there isn't old product left in it.
If using a sponge like the beautyblender or the real techniques version, I'll wash it after every use.

I use the solid beautyblender cleanser to clean my brushes with. I used to use a mild shampoo, but find the solid product to be quicker and better.

I just used soap from my sink!!! Maybe that was bad! It wasnt an expensive brush. I had posted on here about brushes and was going to order the real techniques one but noticed tesco had so eco brushes. They looked soft so bought the blusher one and the concealer one. Thanks for your posts :)

Once a week normally.

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 21/05/2015 11:04

Once a month. I don't use them very often and some are real hair and were quite expensive, so I don't want to dry the hairs out or ruin the glue in the ferrule.

I wash mine with baby shampoo every few days to try and stop bacteria giving me spots! Leave to air dry. That's the brushes for foundation and concealer, but my blusher brush I do less often.

Lottapianos · 21/05/2015 13:17

Once a week. I have used mild liquid hand soap or Fairy Liquid, both successfully. Most of mine are Real Techniques, so good quality but not expensive. Lie flat on window ledge with brush hair hanging over the edge, leave to air dry over night

Pretty much every Saturday evening, knowing that I won't need them first thing on Sunday, if at all. I have doubles of some in case I don't get time/am too lazy. I use baby shampoo then put them on kitchen roll either on the windowsill or by the radiator, depending on the time of year.

I have a Bobbi Brown spray and I use that between using the bobbi brown proper brush cleanser stuff

You spray it onto a tissue or cotton wool pad then sweep your brush all over it to get 90% of the product off.

Means you do a big wash less frequently

Doobigetta · 21/05/2015 17:40

When I remember, which is really not very often. I use shampoo.

daftyburd · 21/05/2015 17:52

Once a week with baby shampoo. Beauty blender sponges after every use because they dry quickly. I have a brush cleaner spray. Not home to check but I think it's Make Up Revolution. Was £4 on offer in Superdrug. Give brushes a quick squirt with that and wipe on a tissue every day. Dry almost instantly.

BillyBigchin · 22/05/2015 18:59

Rarely wash them all. I'm very lazy. When I do, I just use either shampoo or whatever soap is on the sink.

I do wash my angled brush every day though as I use a gel eyebrow product - it dries rock hard so I try to remember to wash it after I've used it.
