Are there any diy eyelash dyes any of you would recommend? Smile

Boots do one "30 day mascara" I think it's called. I've only ever used it on someone else (sister) for holidays. I personally think you get better results from a salon dye, but that's maybe my technique!

lucysmam · 18/05/2015 09:00

oh, really? That's a shame. I thought maybe it would save me faffing with mascara.

I have the Dylash (?) Have been using it for years, (not the same pack).

i don't always use it, generally before a holiday so as not to hve to use mascara. I did it just last week - lashes and brows. My brows are quite fair, so the dye works well on them.

Have had professionally tinting done in the past, and it's no better or worse than the home kits - just costs more and you have to take a trip to the salon.

Just don't get it in your eyes. Stings like a bugger.

iwantgin · 18/05/2015 10:08

I still use mascara at times - for the volume and length.

Judydreamsofhorses · 18/05/2015 10:17

I've done mine for years with Dyelash - the Colorsport one doesn't work for me at all. I do it every four weeks and a kit lasts about six months. I have had it done in an Aveda salon once as part of a package of treatments, but I honestly think I get as good results myself.

ImBrian · 18/05/2015 12:05

I use the 30 day mascara on my brows and it works really well. It isn't as good on lashes though.

luckingaround · 18/05/2015 14:57

I dye my own eyebrows, and that works well, but I'm not able to do my own eyelashes, too faffy, messing with one eye, then the other, the result is poor and it's never right.

I occasionally get them done in the salon but my eyelashes are very fine and very fair so I find it makes feck all difference and it doesn't last very long. Not good value. So. Mascara for me too.

Dowser · 18/05/2015 18:07

I never usemy mascara or eye shadow. I can't stand the faff and removing it all.so this 30 day mascara literally mean apply it once and then it stays put for 30 days . If that's so I would give that a go.

hauntedhenry · 18/05/2015 19:32

I use the 30 day mascara on my brows, it's good. Never tried it on my eyelashes though. I think I might go to a salon to get my lashes dyed before my holidays this year actually, I'm a bit nervous about doing my own in case I get it in my eyes.

hugoagogo · 18/05/2015 20:10

They have changed some regulation and now all the home eyelash dye kits are useless- take a look at the reviews on boots.com 30 day mascara

lucysmam · 18/05/2015 20:12

oh dear. Thanks hugo, I didn't think to check out reviews.

Does anyone know off the top of their head how much it is to have lashes dyed at a salon?

I buy salon dye at Sally and do my own lashes at home with it!

LadyB49 · 19/05/2015 00:08

At a salon around £5

eeky · 19/05/2015 00:39

I do my own every month at least with professional grade dye from ebay. Can't remember name but comes in a huge range of shades. Much better result than the dyson etc and easy to do. I have had no better results from salon dyes, and often worse than home dyeing.

eeky · 19/05/2015 00:40

Oops, Dylon not dyson

Judydreamsofhorses · 19/05/2015 10:01

The Dyelash dye was re-branded to Dyebrow after the EU regulations changed. I still use it on my lashes - the product is exactly the same - with no ill-effects.

Dowser · 19/05/2015 10:11

I had my eyelashes dyed once in a salon and it scared the bejesus out of me.

What if it irritated my eyes. No, never again, I'm a scaredy cat.
