Gather together and join the kitchen witches thread of amazing easy to make skin care products.

Please feel free to share your recipes of fabulousness.

Easy to make skin care products fresh from the kitchen cupboard.

So I have been following a few threads that talk about skin care and thought wow I can make my own products. They would use fresh herbs from my pots and ingredients that I could find in the kitchen, so no nasty secret chemicals or worrying if they have been tested on animals.

Face toner and wash

A desert spoon of green tea
A desert spoon of fresh lavender scrunched up to release oils
A table spoon of cider vinegar
4 dissolvable aspirin
A cup of boiled (hot) water
10 drops of tea tree oil

Make a tea with hot water, green tea and lavender and leave to stand until cooled. Add into a bowl the cider vinegar, aspirin and tea tree oil, when cup of tea cools strain out the herbs, add that into the bowl and stir. This is ready to decant into a bottle to be used.

Eye gel

Aloe Vera gel
Cold pressed olive oil
2 drops of Lavender oil
2 drops of Lemon oil

Mix equal parts of olive oil and aloe Vera gel in a small bottle (flip top is best) and shake. Add a couple of drops of lavender oil and lemon oil, these will freshen the delicate skin around the eyes as well as promote eye lash strength.

Remember to shake before use as the ingredients will separate.

Olive oil and honey face mask

Cold pressed olive oil
Honey
Baking soda

Put a teaspoon of olive oil in a bowl. Next, add one-half teaspoon of honey and one teaspoon of baking soda. Mix the ingredients well to form a thin paste.Your homemade face mask is ready now simply apply and leave for 10 minuts.

Baking soda is a gentle exfoliating agent, it reduces redness caused by breakouts and boosts circulation. Also helps treat acne and pimples by removing excess oil and dead skin cells.

These all sound really interesting but a little scary, especially the face wash with aspirin in it! It is salycilic acid, is that right? I have heard you can use them crushed with a little water for a face mask, is it ok to mix with vinegar?

Love the idea of natural products, but worried that they can actually be harsher on skin than chemical laden ones in reality.
