cheese and wine evening dilemma.

Help! What should I wear to a cheese and wine evening? Can't ask what dress code is-he's on holiday until day of party (next week).

I was thinking some 'nice' jeans and a shirt.

Its at someones house and starts at 8:30pm.

Any other ideas?

Joking - I'd assume it was fairly casual unless you had good reason to think otherwise?

As pp, unless you are omitting some details, like its for work and you're entertaining a client or something, then just go casual. The only thing I'd think about is making sure what I wear would be ok without shoes, in case you are asked to remove them. So make sure your socks match and don't have holes!
