HELP! Someone help me find an outfit for a wedding/christening for an extremely particular 9 yr old DD before I eat my own foot...

DD (9) is very difficult to buy clothes for and I need a complete outfit (incl. shoes) for a wedding and christening. What she won't wear is listed below:

Pink/Purple
Sparkles or glittery or shiny
Flowers/fairies/girl prints
Skirts
Dresses
Short shorts
Anything with fussy stitching i.e. pleats or even a cap sleeve
Weird hemlines or cuts
Lace
Satin/Silky stuff
Gold/silver
Shoes relating to any of the above

I'm tired of looking so any help would be much appreciated Grin

A hessian sack and jeans? :o

siscaza · 14/05/2015 16:28

Tempting!!! Wink

She's a bloody nightmare at the best of times and has been known to reject clothes on the basis of two stitches being in the wrong place... sigh...

OK, you said no dresses, but would she wear something like this perhaps with leggings so it looks more like a long top?

TheOriginalWinkly · 14/05/2015 16:29

Would she wear a jumpsuit or tunic and leggings?

siscaza · 14/05/2015 16:30

Oh I forgot she hates anything tight like leggings and wouldn't wear a tunic. Jumpsuit is a possibility..

and no hearts :( too girly ... Hmm

a top like this with white Capri trousers? Might have a "funny hemline" though.

SoupDragon · 14/05/2015 16:35

Possibly has a cap sleeve.

tethersend · 14/05/2015 16:35

does leaf print count as floral?

CMOTDibbler · 14/05/2015 16:36

Would she like this blazer?

SunshineOnTheBalcony · 14/05/2015 16:37

I used to be just the same when I was 9 Grin.

I used to wear white trousers with a smart blouse/shirt.

Maybe cropped white trousers with a sleeveless blouse would be acceptable?

tethersend · 14/05/2015 16:38

this with trousers?

siscaza · 14/05/2015 16:43

OOh thanks for the ideas, the blazer might be a goer - leaf print jumpsuit considered to be flowery. That exact jumpsuit I was initially considering for her!

sunshine please tell me you grew out of that phase quickly... ??

THankkfully DD2 and DS are much easier to please with DD2 loving party frocks and DS would wear a bin bag if offered to him!

Tethersand that Kin top has pink on it... I do like the Kin range though, meets DD's requirements quite often.

no black?

SunshineOnTheBalcony · 14/05/2015 16:47

Tie front blouse with trousers?

birkiekid · 14/05/2015 16:48

I have a similarly fussy dd. She likes these type of pants. Would they work with a simple top and blazer?

tethersend · 14/05/2015 16:48

too lacy?

birkiekid · 14/05/2015 16:49

jacket

siscaza · 14/05/2015 16:49

I'd have to cut the ribbon of the shirt but that could work... jumpsuit is cool, I like that. I think the 'girly' print might rule it out though. I personally don't mind black as long as there is some colour somewhere.

TheOriginalWinkly · 14/05/2015 16:50

This jumpsuit surely can't be too girly? Don't know about the quality though.

2boys2girls · 14/05/2015 16:51

Omg you could be talking about my daughter she suffers terribly with how they feel ! Its a nightmare
what does your daughter like wearing ?

TheOriginalWinkly · 14/05/2015 16:52

Ah just saw the colour requirement. Could you match it with a green blazer and sandals or similar?

SunshineOnTheBalcony · 14/05/2015 16:52

Errrm... sorry to say, but actually I think I was about 18 before I really started embracing "feminine" clothing Grin.

TheOriginalWinkly · 14/05/2015 16:54

OP it's nice that you keep coming back. I enjoy these sorts of threads but find it very irritating when the OP never returns with feedback :)
