a leather skirt to an informal job interview?

Hi, quick panic. . .
I've a meeting with potential boss today, to discuss the role, context etc.for a new mgs job. I have an interview for consultant level job. I'm planning a black leather midi skirt, grey crew neck and nude legs with black laced pumps for smart casual. Is the leather skirt to edgy for this? It looks great but I'm worried I'll be too much! It's likely the boss will be on a business dress.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I think it sounds great

Wear business dress, then. People employ people like them.

Floggingmolly · 14/05/2015 12:34

What makes you think the interview is more "informal" than usual?

brakespeare · 14/05/2015 12:37

The interview is next week. I have one suit, which I will wear to that.
This is a meeting with the service lead, to discuss the job, local context.

An informal interview isn't the same as informal dress!

If your boss will be in business dress, then you should be in something of the same level of formality.

Chchchchangeabout · 14/05/2015 12:39

It's a risk. If you want the job I would go with business dress. As pp says people employ people like them. And if in doubt go for the smarter/more business appropriate option.

Floggingmolly · 14/05/2015 12:41

I'd consider it a pre-interview; not an informal meeting.

Superherosidekick · 14/05/2015 12:41

lovely outfit but even though its just a chat I seriously would not wear any form of leather clothing or casual shoe.
its consultant level in the NHS not a media job at channel 4.
I could be way off of the mark but would it not be safer to put the crew neck with some cigarette trousers and some loafers/brogues?

brakespeare · 14/05/2015 12:41

Ok thanks, I will wear smart trousers with the crew neck and keep the shoes, add a jacket. I don't think I can wear the skirt suit planned for the interview twice!

You COULD wear the same suit twice, as long as it's not unusually eye-catching. Really, nobody would notice. I don't remember what women I've interviewed have worn, and I'm sure your boss won't either.

And I wore the same skirt suit for both interviews for my current job, and so far nobody has mentioned it!
