Mascara that won't smudge?

TisILeclerc · 13/05/2015 09:44

Please help! I need a new mascara because I'm a bit fed up of it smudging under my eyes.

Mascara is one of the few products I use every single day so I'm willing to spend a bit more than I normally would (say up to £20) but if I'm going to spend that I need to know it's going to work. Anyone got any suggestions?

Have you tried a tubing one, they work for me and I'm a terrible smudger usually.
I use this one by Kevin Aucoin but I know lots of people like a Clinique one.
Don't use the Blinc one, it was the original tubing mascara but I tried it again recently and it goes on very wet so gets everywhere and made my lashes spiky and stubby looking.

cathyandclaire · 13/05/2015 09:53

I think this is the Clinique one that people rave about Lash Power I haven't tried it but may have a go next time.

Boots No7 do a tubing mascara too, I think it's called Stay Perfect, in a gold tube. I really like it, it never smudges on me and anything else usually does, even all the expensive ones. It's about £13, often able to get it for a tenner with vouchers

TisILeclerc · 13/05/2015 10:01

I tried the no 7 one before but my lashes kept coming out when I removed it Shock Maybe I was removing it incorrectly?

I tend to peel it all off when my lashes get wet in the shower, works ok, but would probably be better to hold wet cotton wool pads over eyelids for a bit then gently wipe it off...

cuntyMcCunterson · 13/05/2015 10:16

Benefit they're real is my daily mascara. It doesn't smudge or flake. Think it's about £19 in boots.

cathyandclaire · 13/05/2015 10:27

Are you sure your lashes were coming out? When you put water on the tubes they slip off and they look like lashes/spidery black bits but your own lashes should still be safely attached.

tabulahrasa · 13/05/2015 10:28

I've got the blinc one...are you sure your actual lashes were coming out? Because I know it looks like that when you take it off, but with mine it's definitely the mascara and not my lashes.

TisILeclerc · 13/05/2015 10:38

Yeah my lashes actually came out. They got quite sparse. And you could tell the difference when it came off - which was tube and which was lash Confused

I've been using the No 7 one after a recommendation on here, and it's the only mascara I've ever used that doesn't smudge AT ALL, all day. I've even started doing my lower lashes for the first time ever.

netty7070 · 13/05/2015 10:53

..I just use a cotton wool pad and warm water, it does come off in little tubes that look a bit weird at first.

Stinkersmum · 13/05/2015 10:55

The L'Oréal tubing is good.

TisILeclerc · 13/05/2015 12:44

Right I'm going to try the no7 one again first (as it's pretty cheap). See how I go. It has occurred to me that I was using it at a time when my body was reacting very badly to stress so it might have been more to do with that than the mascara!

Thank you all for your help Smile

Max factor masterpiece max waterproof is brilliant.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 13/05/2015 13:42

No7 waterproof or Maybelline Great Lash waterproof- both fantastic and easily removed with Loreal Micellar eye gel.

Isyourclockorange · 13/05/2015 17:51

Clinique Lash Power is perfect for staying put but it gives a very natural look. If you're looking for more impact you may well be disappointed.

dsg222 · 13/05/2015 18:57

Try Clinique high impact curling if you want more dramatic, lash power is natural but the curling one is more dramatic but still does not smudge!

Only1scoop · 13/05/2015 18:59

Tried them all EL double wear only one to do the job

oddfodd · 13/05/2015 19:01

I have very deep-set eyes and I have spent HUNDREDS on trying to find a mascara that doesn't smudge. Last year - when I was 49 - I finally found one.

It's Estee Lauder DoubleWear. It's £20 odd quid but honestly, it's the only one that's ever worked.

Really worth it

Kleptronic · 13/05/2015 19:01

I second the Clinique High Impact. It doesn't budge. I use Clinique Take The Day Off eye makeup remover, gets it all off gently with no rubbing.

oddfodd · 13/05/2015 19:01

:o xpost with scoop!

MadameJulienBaptiste · 13/05/2015 19:06

Mascara only smudges on me if I get moisturiser on my lashes or use a face cream that doesn't sink in quick.
The best mascara I ever found, that I keep coming back to, is avon supershock and it's often on offer for a fiver. Stays put but comes off really easily when you want it to.
unlike benefit which cost 4 times the price and instead of coming off cleanly just sort of worked its way into my skin.
