Anyone tried a clip in fringe?

Just wondering if they were any good? Would like to give one a go but have 2 concerns:
Colour match and;
I have thin hair so worried that it'll be obvious where it's clipped in!

My sister had one and it was s bit of a nightmare. Neither of us were particularly good at positioning it/covering the joins. The colour match was ok though. I've never seen her wear it out so its either in the bin or sat gathering dust somewhere.
