The wealthier areas have the best shops - Wimbledon Village, Marylebone High St, Pimlico, that kind of place.

MollyAir · 09/05/2015 23:37

Hospice shops have better bargains - Oxfam etc are pricey.

Eastpoint · 09/05/2015 23:39

I think there are some really good ones around Chelsea Green & in Pimlico.

Brookville · 09/05/2015 23:42

Turnham Green Terrace just outside the tube station: There's an Oxfam bookshop, a few great kids' charity shops, and also a good adults' Fara and another adults' clothing shop on the same street. Stroll up to Chiswick High Road and you'll find an excellent Oxfam Vintage and other delights. And there are numerous places to stop for coffee and cake in between. Enjoy.

MollyAir · 09/05/2015 23:44

Ooooh, ages since I've been to Turnham Green Terrace. Some great indie shops there as well.

sherbetlemonD · 09/05/2015 23:53

Thanks all. Where abouts is Turnham Green- is it easy enough to get to from Euston (where i'm staying). Pimlico is just down on the Victoria line so I guess i'll start there. Any near Oxford Street- can't bloody stand the place but Mum wants to go there for the big Uniqlo.

Marylebone ones are nearest to Oxford Street. Best shops, according to Time Out.

There's a good salvation army one just behind Oxford Street, and the Cancer Research one in Marylebone is near too.

Brookville · 10/05/2015 11:47

Turnham Green is not brilliant for Euston as it's heading West on the trundly old District Line towards Richmond or Ealing. Maybe next time? There's also a dry cleaners there called Turn 'em CleanGrin

Corygal · 10/05/2015 11:52

Yep, the Sally Army literally seconds away from Oxford Circus is fab. Plus in a dear little street with loads of coffee shops.

Some of the best ones - ie cheapest for proper designer bargains - are in Nappy Valley, ie Clapham and Balham. I should know, I work for a couple of them (free) as chief clothes sorter. Try the shops around Clapham Junction (about 6 of them) and the ones on Balham High Road (about 5).

The loot is heaven.

SoundingBored · 10/05/2015 12:20

Depends what youre looking for, but I have found some designer gems in Hampstead, Camden, Notting Hill (Balenciaga bag, MaxMara coat, Joseph coat, Temperley dress in the last year or so) and quite a few nice, 'mum' brand clothes in Southgate, Muswell Hill, Finchley....areas with lots of middle class mums, basically. Picked up a Boden navy cashmere sweater for 3.99 and a lovely cobalt blue Zara blazer for 2.99 just yesterday Grin.

Oxfam is definitely the most expensive (4.99 for a Primark vest? Behave!). Barnardos and Romanian Relief Fund shops are good value oop north London, ime.

sherbetlemonD · 10/05/2015 16:46

Mostly accessories and any homeware that takes my fancy but clothes are good too, any good for golf gear??

Thanks again everyone Smile

The big Uniqlo is closed for a refurb until December. There's still Regent St or the smaller one on Oxford St though.

MoustacheofRonSwanson · 10/05/2015 22:28

Marie Curie shop opposite Belsize Park tube.

Best find there was current season Burberry Prosum tweed overcoat for £25,

nickEcave · 11/05/2015 20:43

Northcote Rd by Clapham Jct has about 4 or 5 good ones and so does Putney
