Shoes for this season?

Am trying to decide on some 'everyday' shoes to wear with jeans this spring/summer. I live in a big city.

Last year I had two pairs of Esprit high-top sneakers (a bit like Converse trainers) but they are falling apart a but now.

Ideally they would be comfortable for the school run (done on foot) and be stylish without being too 'young' for a late-30s woman. But I also don't like to look too 'mumsy'.

Thoughts? My budget isn't unlimited but I can splash out for something like this which I'll wear a lot. However lower-cost items are good too.

I'm late 30s, and no-one's telling me I'm too old for Converse. I also have a couple of pairs of canvas ballerinas- kind of like old-school PE pumps but in nice colours with bows on- for when it's warmer. I hardly took them off at the weekend last summer.

I'm 45 and won't be giving up on my Converse any time soon. I'm also planning on getting some T-bar strappy sandals, a bit like old fashioned school shoes, to wear with rolled up skinnies.

I'm trying to find some shoes too. I've seen New Balance mentioned on here - what do people think of them as an alternative to Converse?

I might get myself one pair of Converse to replace my poor worn-out shoes, but I do find them quite lacking in support. I have a few pairs of ballerinas I could drag out again too. And maybe something with gold trim?

Salty I like them but they are mostly a bit bright to go with most of my clothes. On the right person/outfit they'd be very cool.

supergas? though there are tons of slip on shoes about at the moment which are quite versatile

Look at fly of London shoes. They do some great styles which can be dressed up or down

Converse do ballerina flats. I have them in black and am planning the lilac. I wear them all the time even for work I think they are really innocuous
