Teeth whitening?

After doing an awful lot of research, I've finally settled on buying Crest 3D White Luxe Whitestrips Professional Effects with the intention of using alternate days to reduce sensitivity, only to discover Amazon don't deliver them internationally and I can't find them elsewhere.

Does anyone use them? If you got them online please can you advise where?

I have used Crest 3D white which I purchased in the US. I found them really messy and wearing them made my mouth water which made them foam, making me feel a bit nauseous. I also found them difficult to put on properly. I am lucky to have lovely friends with a dental practice who recommended moulded trays and Opalescence teeth whitening gel which is worn overnight. I found this to be so much easier and the result was very good. There are also different strengths of gel in case one causes irritation. I used 10% which produced a nice natural whiteness.

Thanks Fuzzie. I have used both but the Crest are an awful lot cheaper though they are fiddly to use. I just need to find a way to get them again mow........

EBay?

looki · 10/05/2015 00:54

I am apprehensive about buying on eBay as so many copies out there and I don't want to put something potentially dangerous into my mouth.

Is there any way of finding out if it is genuine before buying them I wonder?

My dentist put me on poladay, and you can buy that online.

lottiesatitagain · 10/05/2015 06:49

I have used all of the crest products. They work but the results don't last. I bought 5 min whitening gel from eBay. It is best rated teeth whitening product on makeupalley and Amazon. Leave it on for 20 minutes twice a day and you will have whiter teeth in days. Much cheaper then crests strips too. Make sure you but the US version.

lottiesatitagain · 10/05/2015 06:53

Sorry it is called plus white 5 minute whitening gel. Oh and I haven't had any sensitivity with this . Crest supreme gave me zingers .

NoArmaniNoPunani · 10/05/2015 07:06

The crest strips are illegal in the UK for good reason (I'm a dentist and have seen the damage they cause)

bblondemoment · 10/05/2015 11:36

lottie, sorry to hijack thread ,had a quick look on eBay at what you recommended but how dyou know which ones are the U.S. Versions? X

specialsubject · 10/05/2015 12:28

the American stuff is banned from OTC sale in the UK. Doesn't mean you can't buy it online, but you might want to think about why it is banned.

in short - do you still want teeth when you are 60 or less?

lottiesatitagain · 10/05/2015 14:27

bblondemoment, I asked the sellers. I ordered mine from candleforyou

hope that link works. Honestly it is great stuff. You are supposed to use it twice a day for 5 - 20 minutes for two weeks and then once a week thereafter. I got my desired level of whitening after 5 days of using it once a day and so far they seem to have held the colour although I could probably do with one more go. With the Crest Pro supreme I paid $100 and had to leave the strips on for an hour. A week or two after finishing the pack my teeth would revert back to the way they were.

BCBG · 10/05/2015 14:43

NoArmaniNoPunani is there a gel that I can buy without going back to my dentist, that is approved? I had trays made and teeth whitening gel a few years ago but my dentist won't allow me to restart the treatment because she 'doesn't agree' with anyone bringing the shade up more than two levels (she is quite old and stern, but a great dentist otherwise and a family friend so it would be tricky to actually leave her practice over something so trivial) but I am a coffee drinker and I would like to repeat the treatment as I still have the trays and they still fit well.

I just need to find a way to get them again mow....

Problem solved.

BCBG: I've never heard of a dentist refusing to sell you more gel. The only legal way to purchase effective whitening gel in the UK is via a dentist. Where I work we are always happy to supply more provided clients bring their trays in every two years to ensure they still fit. I would far rather that than people coming in with irreversible damage to their teeth and gums from illegal whitening, which we are seeing more and more of. I don't know what to suggest to you if you don't wish to see another dentist.

bblondemoment · 10/05/2015 17:30

Thanks lottie, I'll order that later today x

Karbea · 10/05/2015 17:55

noarmaninopunami what sort of damage can crest whitening strips cause?

Mrsmorton · 10/05/2015 18:08

I've seen horrible chemical burns and horrific sensitivity as well as a case of spontaneous pulp haemorrhage which is a "very bad thing" and required root canal treatment to fix. Shame as they were a nice set of teeth.

The last one i would think is quite rare but the first two are very common with stuff that people buy online and use themselves.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 10/05/2015 19:08

In addition to that you get people trying to whiten over decay, people with gum disease doing whitening. You should be dentally fit before you worry about cosmetic options and a lot of people aren't.
