Sun hat for massive heads...

Hello all

I'm a lady with a surprisingly massive head. I'm also very pale and burn at the first whiff of sunshine. Can anyone recommend a hat that won't make me look a twat? Everything I find is either impractical or just a bit horrid - surely there's a middle ground between Helen Daniels visits the Bungle Bungles and a 1950s scout mistress?

Ha! Loved it when Helen Daniels went on her trips to the bungle bungles (sorry not helpful!)

You need a baker boy cap. Cute AND practical. Accessorize ones are surprisingly roomy.

H&M sun hats come in S, M & L and the large is very big. Too big for me and my head isn't small.

What sort of hat do you like? I'm an XL mens hat size (7 3/8) and burn at the drop of a hat so have lots of hats!

My faves last year were mens trilbys from M&S

Ooh, this is a good thread for me. I too am large of head, and burn v v easily.
I bought my first garden hat last year, but yes I probably did look both a twat, and an 80s Helen Daniels (RIP) tribute act. I have bought a cap so far this year too.

I have a long neck. I think that makes hats look odder on me. What hats work on giant headed giraffes?

I have a mahoosive head. I have never found anything in accessorise that remotely fits. Have tried lots of mens hats but they also seem to be tall so don't work for me.

M&S sometimes do two sizes. Didn't know about H&M, will check them out. Have got one recently in TK Maxx which has a band you can stick inside to adjust the size (so obviously I just left the band off!).

Just to say thank you for all the responses - I've had ill kids so had to knock hat searching on the head for a bit. Looks like there are are a few of us massive headers about...

I have a big head and got a trilby from the white company the other day. It's got a stretchy band bit round the inside.

I bought a really nice hat from Accessorize a couple of years ago. It doesn't fit me now Confused.

How does one gain weight across one's skull?!

Darkchocsprinkles · 12/05/2015 17:15

Huge head here too - about 7 3/4 in old money!

I bought myself a hat stretcher on eBay - now pretty much anything fits me. Also makes a nice place to display one's hats Wink

I had a nice time trying on some men's XL hats on in M&S this very evening. They have some lovely trilby sorts but a little on the pricey side for me at the moment. I've had good hats from there in the past - I usually girlify them a bit though by changing the ribbon or pinning on a fabric flower.

I don't understand do why in so many places that sell hats they don't seem to realise that lady heads come in different sizes.

When I'm rich I intend to get hats made for me and wear them all the time. I love hats.

Update!! I got a hat in H&M today - it fits! Straw job with black headband.
