Which one item makes you feel "polished"?

I have a 6 week old DD and I'm currently rocking the slobby clothes/scraped back hair/no make up look. How can I make myself look more presentable with minimal effort?
I'm 5'7" and currently a size 16 with a lovely post pregnancy pouch.

Red lipstick and mascara.

Congrats on your DD!

MarniRose · 07/05/2015 18:06

Have your nails gelled.

Sootgremlin · 07/05/2015 18:25

I would have said a smart jacket, but actually in the last few weeks I've started making more of an effort with my hair, styling it a bit instead of just pulling it back and have felt a lot better, been getting non hair related compliments etc, so now I would say straighteners, just to smooth over, nothing dramatic makes all the difference for me.

Eye brows plucked waxed or threaded
Lip stick
MascarA

I have a baby so I feel your scruffy pain.

I have a lady come to the house and do a mani pedi with shellac. Then I never have to think about my hands or feet and they look perfect for ages. She also does a lash & brow tint so I don't have to think about putting on mascara or even worse having to remove it when I'm so tired at the end of the day.

I got bought some nice lounging around clothes so that whatever comfy thing I pull on in the morning looks ok.

skylerwhite1 · 07/05/2015 20:16

Shellac always feel "finished" The rest of me is probably shite - but at least the nails look good Grin

MsBojangles · 07/05/2015 20:29

Well fitting jacket and lightly filled in eyebrows.

PrincessOfChina · 07/05/2015 20:32

I have a five week old. I feel like a real person when I manage to straighten my hair. If I also manage to moisturise I feel like a super model.

Catsahoy · 07/05/2015 20:35

Eyeliner (drawing on a set of eyes Wink)

What is BB cream?? What am I missing?? Is this why I always look like a pig's lug???

Catsahoy · 07/05/2015 20:38

Oh and I straighten my hair with heat serum, makes me feel glam and makes my hair shiny, hurrah!

FresherThanYou · 07/05/2015 20:51

A good coat to throw on for the school run, which is why I hate hot weather Grin Bb & mascara

LovelyWeatherForDucks · 07/05/2015 20:55

My navy Mac.
Tidy nail varnish.

Coastingit · 07/05/2015 21:21

In winter, a great coat and lipstick.

In summer, gel toes and bb cream.

hobNong · 07/05/2015 21:27

Congrats on your dd! Smile

Not a beauty product but I think everyone looks a million times better when they stand up tall, as opposed to slouching.

cats you need boots botanics bb cream. It is awesome, I never wear foundation anymore. It comes in light, medium & probably dark. I have light for winter & medium if I ever get a tan ;). Seriously, try it!

Nettletheelf · 08/05/2015 00:04

I'm in the good coat camp. Plus sleek hair and a decent bag.

polyhymnia · 08/05/2015 01:33

Great hair cut and colour, top quality bra.
I also recommend tinted brows and lashes and nice lip balm .

polyhymnia · 08/05/2015 01:38

Also very natural or even clear nail varnish look polished but are low on maintenance because chips don't show.

ImBrian · 08/05/2015 02:25

I have an almost 6 month old and only now just starting to feel 'put together' again.

Mine are clean hair with no roots, eyebrows filled in and nail varnish. Clothes that don't have sick or snot on are also a bonus.

diggerdigsdogs · 08/05/2015 09:06

Eyebrow tint, thread and eye lash tint.

It makes you (me) look better without having to do anything else at all.

Wierdly cutting my hair to a length so I can't tie it back AND cutting it into a hairstyle has made a huge difference. I can't just scrape it back and ignore it - I have to spend two minutes every day throwing product into it and making sure it will dry into its style.

I also have a tiny baby (5 weeks tomorrow) and I feel better for cc cream, blush, curled eyelashes and a slick of lip colour.

Chchchchanging · 09/05/2015 10:22

Shellac
Lip gloss
Mascara

SirChenjin · 09/05/2015 10:23

I know you asked for one item.....so lipstick

Kennington · 09/05/2015 10:32

One thing could not make me look polished!
Eyebrows threaded
Clear nail polish
Healed boots
Concealer and illuminator
