I am a bit embarrassed to be posting about this - don't know why! Hence name change. I really want to buy a bikini this summer am turning 37 too self conscious as a twenty something to wear them and always stuck with tankinis, now or never type thing. I am 5'10 with pale skin and auburn hair, muscular/sporty size 12 with no bum (really flat and sad) quite thick thighs, flattish tummy and size 32E bust which sounds big but is only in proportion to shape... I'm more comfortable with sporty than sexy and irrationally dislike swimwear that looks like underwear. I want to feel FABULOUS but still able to run around after small children. Can anyone help?

If you want to spend a huge amount, look at Eda and Heidi Klein. Eda do large cup sizes and Heidi Klein styles are very supportive - their bottoms are great too as they're fold down so very flattering. Cheaper option is H&M this year - they have tops that are quite long-line so you can leap about without worrying about falling out! Your shape/height sounds fabulous for bikini-wearing so you absolutely should feel it!

Thanks Georgie I will look into the brands you mention - I am probably not going to spend over about £80 and most comfortable under £50... I have always mistrusted really cheap swimwear (prefer Speedo tankinis from the days when I used to buy it!) is this a misconception nowadays?

Have you seen Freya swimwear? I have a couple of their bikinis/tankinis and they're very flattering. See Figleaves.

Yes I have seen the Freya ones and I don't know why but they just don't appeal to me... not sure if it's the prints or the fact they are mainly underwired. I don't mind some structure (sort of light padding type thing) but I feel like I would feel frumpy in most underwired ones I see. maybe I should just bite the bullet and try them. The heidi klein ones look absolutely lovely, but £210 is waaay out of budget for me I will watch out for sales.
