V neck or round neck, which looks the best

thanks

Good question.

I really liked the crew neck round ones but I have to undo the top and bottom two buttons to avoid looking like a box.

Nowadays I prefer a v neck cardi because I like to wear a scoop neck underlayer like a camp or tee. I'm not a fan of a v neck tee with a v neck cardi personally.

My real favourites are what they call edge to edge, no buttons, just nice and drapey.

Twitchcoco · 06/05/2015 18:09

A cami as in camisole. Not a camp.

This might help a bit

Depends on you really and what looks best and what you're wearing underneath. I personally prefer a crew neck and wear undone with a blouse type top underneath.

Have a look on Pinterest for cardigan outfits to get lots of ideas how to style cardigans.

cardigan dos and donts. Obviously take what bits you like and ignore the rest

Doobigetta · 07/05/2015 06:53

I like crew neck for work and v with jeans, and at last count I owned 14 of them. But there aren't any on sale this year, or not that I can find. All I want is a round neck, fitted, waist-length cotton cardigan in red, and I cannot find one anywhere. Not even in John bloody Lewis. M&S probably have them, but last time I checked the quality was awful, so I haven't bothered.

Floisme · 07/05/2015 07:04

I like crew neck, fitted and worn buttoned up except at the top.

If I wear them unbuttoned I prefer them cropped as my waist is quite high (can never remember if that's short or long waisted)

Or V-neck and long - not 'boyfriend length' which makes my thighs looks massive but almost to the knee, worn with skinnies.

Twitchcoco · 07/05/2015 07:30

Doobi Laura Ashley have a short red one in mainly viscose. Nice red though.

sainsburys has a red one, but I think it may have had different butons (either diamond-y or coloured/metallic?)

everythingsgoingsouth · 07/05/2015 10:22

that would be buttons..

Marmaladybird · 07/05/2015 10:43

Whichever cardigan you go for, I highly DO NOT recommend a short cocoon/cape cardigan. Especially if there is the slightest chance you're going to be photographed from behind...Blush

This is the offending item - it looks okay on the model but not with my ample bottom meeting it at the widest point. It looks really nice from the front - I had no idea of the horror behind me until a photograph of me was uploaded to twitter and I was tagged in it. From the back. It's going to the charity shop.

I like cardigans. Find them very useful to just add an extra layer, but can chuck them in my bag if not needed.

I tend to buy mine from Sainsburys or Primark. Blush They seem to last quite well, and stand up to a regular 30C wash.

Currently have a black and a white in the same style from Sainsburys, waist length, full length sleeves, round neck. £10 each.

Also have a beigey colour, a fuschia pink and a pale turquoise in v neck.

Doobigetta · 07/05/2015 14:02

I looked at that one, twitch, but it's too short for me. I want long enough to cover my belly, short enough not to look wrong under a biker jacket. Beautiful shade of red though.

Nanasueathome · 07/05/2015 14:03

Have a look at Woolovers
They are really lovely range

flippineck · 07/05/2015 14:15

I do love a cardigan! My current favourites are thesewww.woolovers.com/cotton-silk/womens/cropped-crew-cardigan.aspx from Woolovers. Size down (I'm a 12/14 irl but wear a small in these), they are lovely over dresses or skirts and plain tops.

V neck cardis over blouses/slightly fancier tops and with jeans.

Gap boyfriend style merino ones are good over tunics and skinny jeans (get them from the outlet, less than £20 usually).

mimiasovitch · 07/05/2015 17:21

Doobi - how would a cabled cardi be?
Ness

mimiasovitch · 07/05/2015 17:23

Is this red too orangey?

Mistral

mimiasovitch · 07/05/2015 17:25

I like this a lot, but it's viscose.
