Navy jacket/blazer?

flippineck · 04/05/2015 21:06

I'm probably about a year behind everyone else, but I quite fancy a navy casual-ish blazer or jacket. Has anyone got any suggestions? In my head, it's sort of softly structured rather than properly sharply tailored, iyswim.

TY!

I've just ordered this from H&M. Not sure what it's like in RL yet though.

dottyaboutstripes · 04/05/2015 22:30

That H&M blazer is lovely irl

NomDePrune · 04/05/2015 22:52

I just received it from H&M, is lovely and out of stock in store so do order online if you can! Casual enough to wear with jeans and not too dark

Dumpylump · 04/05/2015 23:01

I have zero willpower and am clearly very suggestible.....have just ordered that jacket from H&M too!

DizzyDalek · 04/05/2015 23:36

What is the sizing like on this jacket? It is a lovely looking jacket.

AtomicDog · 04/05/2015 23:37

Gap have nice ones in navy.

ImpatientGriselda2 · 04/05/2015 23:48

That one doesn't have much of a defined waist. On me - hourglass 12 who needs stuff with darted / belted waists - it looked boxy without being stylishly boyish. Still it was a nice jacket that would suit some people and was better quality than you might expect for the price
This one was the shape I was after but there were none left in my size in navy then, and now it looks like they only have red: www.hm.com/gb/product/62853?article=62853-C

Pricier, but this might be good, poss too tailored for some?: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Joules-123766-Womens-Blazer-Jacket-with-Fitted-Waist-and-Front-Pockets-in-Navy-/301575540858?
The shape was nice, It fits large though - the 12 was similar to H&M 14s. I'd run out of steam for exchanging stuff so never got round to getting a 10.

flippineck · 05/05/2015 09:34

Thank you all! The H&M jersey one looks good, I'm a slightly top heavy hourglass so too square and boxy isn't great on me, shame that it's out of stock in a 14 though as I'm a 12ish but more often 14 in H&M.

Yes, the Joules one is a bit too tailored, I think. Not a bad price though!

What do you all think of linen? I think I'm one of those people who could make it look like chewed string, but it always looks god on everyone else!

Hope that link works!

I really love the blazer Grin

Dasie · 05/05/2015 09:47

Oh it didn't Blush

Lambzig · 05/05/2015 10:42

I had that H&M blazer, loved it, left it on a train last week. So annoyed, I have ordered it again.

TheWordFactory · 05/05/2015 10:51

I'm hunting for a good jacket too.

I found this www.meandem.com/fitted-blazer-navy and this
www.meandem.com/longline-blazer-peacock.

Haven't ordered yet.

TheVeryThing · 05/05/2015 11:46

I got this one from uniqlo last week and really like it for wearing with jeans etc

nottheOP · 05/05/2015 12:44

Thevery I really like that one - what's the sizing like in Uniqlo?

TheCraicDealer · 05/05/2015 13:01

I got one from Zara last spring. It’s navy, fitted, reasonably good value and has worn very well.

TheVeryThing · 05/05/2015 13:18

I asked the same question on here before I ordered and ended up ordering in small and medium.
I am a size 12 on top but have narrow shoulders and the small was fine on me, would be a bit of a squeeze to fasten the button but I never fasten blazers (and of course, I'll lose those extra pounds any day now!). The large would have been ok too but I preferred the fit around my shoulders in the small, hth.

nottheOP · 05/05/2015 13:33

Thanks, I'm also a twelve but broad shouldered (oh, the joy) so I'll go for an M. Cheers!

OvertiredandConfused · 05/05/2015 13:33

I like that one too thevery. I'm a 14. Would you recommend medium or large?

mickeymoose · 05/05/2015 21:59

Ooo I like the Next one. Will order if the H&M one turns out to not suit (which is likely as I'm an hourglass too).

OvertiredandConfused · 06/05/2015 12:33

Ordered navy and grey in large from Uniqlo. Pretended Intended to choose when I tried them on, but love them so much I'm keeping both Blush.

Look smart and structured but feel like a cardigan. I'm a small size 14 but quite tall so went for large. Could probably get away with medium but can now wear long sleeves etc with ease.

Thanks for the recommendation.

flippineck · 07/05/2015 13:06

Loads of good stuff - useful discussion, thank you!

I liked the one H&M jacket best, but dithered and now it's out of stock completely. OverTired - how long is the Uniqlo jacket, and what is the shaping like round the waist? Trying to decide if it's not fitted enough, but also what size to order? Am 5' 6, but most of my height is in my body, iyswim, I have narrow shoulders and big-ish boobs. A medium might be ok, but it might not!
