Has anybody ever had a mac make up tutorial?

My friend has booked us both one as a treat and I have no idea what to expect.

Are they good?

Are you under obligation to buy 100s of £ worth of stuff following it?

They don't do free makeovers so presumably your friend has paid £50 each for the makeup lesson and the money is then redeemable against products at the end.

They are wonderful! My advice is to ask loads of questions, and get tips and instructions on specific things. Eg I've had them make up one eye, and then talk me through doing the other eye myself. Have fun.

Yes, it was good but they always insist I am NW20 and it's far too peachy for me so I end up looking orange

Yes I had a lesson before my wedding. I use Mac anyway but it was nice getting some wee hints and tips from a professional

Definitely worth it! Especially as it's pretty much free if you're buying something anyway. I can do a perfect cat's eye now (for the twice a year I have time to put it on)!

The lady also taught me lots about contouring, but I don't have all the brushes I need, and it always seems a bit Kardashiany. A really fun experience though, I'd recommend it to any Mac fans.

I hated my BodyShop one too, I went home looking like Alice Cooper and wiped it all off.

My bodyshop one, was the opposite!

I'm all for the natural look, but they put so little on me I looked like I do with none on at all. I rushed to the toilets of the department store with my make up bag and sorted myself out!

I had a bad experience with Mac. They made me look like a Jordan impersonator in drag. They put some kind of ridiculous plumper on my lips. I think I was too open to trying something new. It wasn't a lesson. The person giving lessons might have more training.

I've had several, but it sounds like they've doubled in price if it's £50 each! Good grief. I prefer Laura Mercier these days.
Anyway, I've had very mixed results - it depends entirely on the style and taste of the person doing it. The most memorable - for the wrong reasons - was a pre-wedding practice makeover when I was 21. "What colour are your bridesmaids wearing?" she asked. "Navy," said I, full of innocence. Yep, she gave me full on navy eyeshadow. I looked like I'd been made over by an excitable six year old. I'd already said the wedding style was classic and traditional, so goodness knows what she'd have done if I told her I was a goth who wanted to make a statement.
Who wants their eyeshadow to match the bridesmaids anyway? Is that a thing? Argh.
