Has anyone had a tummy tuck?

I was just reading the breast implant thread and was delighted to see the OP got so many helpful, honest responses.

I am not thrilled with my boobs but I don't really want to get implants. However, I am really intrigued by the tummy tuck. I have a typical mum's belly, although I am overall pretty slim. I would love to just have all that excess skin (and a bit of fat) whisked away. I don't need my abdominal muscles repaired or anything -just the loose skin removed.

I know there's a big scar from hip to hip, but after a year or so I think I can get a tattoo to cover it. (I've never wanted a tattoo but the ones I've seen for these scars look nice and it makes sense.) Also, I've had a big scar on my abdomen since childhood as my apendix burst so my appendectomy scar is dimpled almost like a second navel. I think that would be swallowed up in the tummy tuck so its not like I'd be worse off than before.

Anyway, could anyone who has had it tell me what it was like for them? How brutal is the recovery? And I think I've read that the skin will remain slightly crepey when you bend over. Is this the case?

I did and it was definitely worth it. I needed the full version where they sever and reattach the stomach muscles because mine had never gone back after my last pregnancy and I also had a huge 20cm hernia.

The scar is pretty huge but the pain relief was very good and I don't remember being in pain at all. I am also planning to get my scar tattooed at some point though TBH now it has faded to white it is perfectly fine.

The end result was fantastic. A totally flat stomach with very tight abs. No remaining flabbiness at all. I also lost my appendix scar along the way.

I'd suggest you book an initial consultation with a couple of surgeons and ask them what they suggest.

Interesting. I booked in for one before but chickened out after the consultation. I already have a c section scar so the scar doesn't worry me.

I've lost a fair bit of weight and have a horrible apron which I want rid of. I don't think I need a muscle repair though.

The before and after pictures I saw looked amazing. I just chickened out because of the ga.

Apparently, it costs at least £8000. :( I don't think I can quite afford that, especially as I won't be able to work for a month or so.

Ah yes. Pretty sure my quote was
About the £10k mark.
