Capsule work wardrobe

I'm starting a new job next week in a software development company as a senior project manager.
I need to dress smart casual but am 46 and feel a bit unsure (have come from financial services where it's more formal).
It's quite a young team. "Cool".
Any tips for a capsule wardrobe?
Budget is low. Have a nice modern suit in black, and some good quality dark skinnies and a couple of pairs of nice ankle boots.

I am also going back to work and have a similar question (and have similar age). I used to buy most of my workwear at Jigsaw years ago, however when I went to their King's Road store over the weekend, I didn't know where to start and found many clothes quite frumpy. I then looked at Reiss and found a lovely jumpsuit but too expensive at £399... Hobbs mainly had florals, think weddings. So I came home empty handed.

I like GAP and Banana Republic for workwear - especially nice chino type trousers I don't have to iron!

We're the tech branch of a financial services company, so it's trousers/skirts and blouses/smartish tees, or tunics, dresses and cardis here. Muted prints and no big logos. I do avoid jeans but many don't.

I'd pick up some flattish shoes

Thanks for the feedback, will check them out. A friend also recommended Zara.

COS all the way but you sound sorted with the skinnies and black ankle boots
