Morning All,

I realise this is a slightly 'how long is a piece of string' question but roughly how long would you expect to be in a hairdressers for a re-style on mid-length hair? This is a top end chain charging the highest prices in the area.

If it's that expensive surely you can phone up and ask?

SleeplessSeattle · 29/04/2015 09:17

Actually I'm sure you can phone up and ask anywhere regardless of price!

Stoneysilence · 29/04/2015 09:22

I think salons give 45 mins for a cut with a senior stylist. Much longer for colour or if a junior/trainee. Ring them and check.

Whippet81 · 29/04/2015 09:25

I've already been (and going back again today I have it rectified).

Just wondered if I was being unreasonable thinking I was rushed through somewhat.

yes, 45 mins or so for cut and blow dry, but if it was a re-style might take an hour. 2 hours for half head of highlights and 3 hours for full head (which I'm having done and dreading on Saturday)

Whippet81 · 29/04/2015 10:42

Thanks.

Well I was in 24 minutes from leaving the car to getting back in. I'm not normally that anal about checking times but I thought I was late on way in and then checked when I got back in as I couldn't believe how quick I had been.

Anyway I'm not happy with it - I know I should have probably said something at the time but it was all a bit frantic and I had it left curly so I couldn't tell the front hadn't been trimmed at all.

I hate this kind of thing but I paid a lot of money and don't think I should have to wait until I go again to get it how I want it? I'm mortified having to go back.

if you're not happy - (and you have the time to do so) go back now! you must complain -

how much did you pay?

DownWithThisTypeOfThing · 29/04/2015 10:50

45 minutes.

I've been in 30 minutes before for a standard cut and blow.

I always book in with the director - she's very quick. But good.

Madamecastafiore · 29/04/2015 10:52

An hour with the consultation.

DownWithThisTypeOfThing · 29/04/2015 10:53

I've only ever been back once to a hairdresser because I wasn't happy. The thing was, she looked at it, agreed it wasn't great AND THEN DID THE SAME THING AGAIN! In the end I thought I was best leaving it than risking ending up bald but I never went back.

DownWithThisTypeOfThing · 29/04/2015 10:55

Oh and where ive said 45 mins - I've used the same hairdresser for years. I walk in, usually clutching some photos from magazines and because she knows my hair and how I like to style it there's no need to faff.

Jackie0 · 29/04/2015 11:00

24 mins, wow.
I wonder did they double book or something.
Did you have a shampoo cut & blow dry?
What type of stylist was it? Senior ? Junior?
No matter what the answers are the bottom line is you did not get what you paid for.
Any decent salon will want to hear about this and will want to put it right.
A disgruntled client (who is telling her friends) is very very bad for business.
Go and speak to the owner or manager asap.

hellsbellsmelons · 29/04/2015 11:58

Blimey - the wash part at my hairdresser lasts a good 10+ minutes on it's own.
From arriving to leaving is usually around 45 minutes.
24 seems very quick.
Get in there and complain and get it sorted.
Us Brits (well most of us) are too 'naice' and need to complain more (where necessary of course)

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 29/04/2015 12:52

An hour for a cut and blow dry and that's at least ten mins washing and head massage, cut and then 15 mins blow dry and finish.

Higgle · 29/04/2015 13:57

It wasn't Toni and Guy was it? they did a crap job on my hair a couple of years ago and I plagued them until I got a full refund.

Whippet81 · 30/04/2015 11:54

Thanks for all your replies - I went back and they took some more off the front (after making me wait half and hour). Girl who did it was lovely.

I'm still miffed though and think maybe I should send a passive aggressive email - I know I should walk in and ask to speak to manager etc but I'm not brave enough.

Whippet81 · 30/04/2015 11:55

No Higgle was Lisa Shepherd.

Paid £50 for the poster who asked - I know people pay more bit that's really is top whack in these parts.

That isn't really a satisfactory conclusion though is it?
So the manager is still unaware there is a problem?
