I've got half an outfit for my sister's wedding

My sister is getting married in 5 weeks and I need to sort out my outfit. I thought I had it sorted - patterned trousers with a chiffony top and a blazer. However, I wear the blazer all the time and I'm not so keen on the top so it's going back. I'm down to trousers and shoes.

I'm not a maid of honour but want k do my sister proud. I'm a pear shaped 10 and in not too bad shape but I need help finding a top and jacket.

Back in a ainute with the links to pics....

Possible top

I'm going to have to do it in a couple of posts as the form keeps resetting!

Trousers

The shoes are nude.

The only colour jacket I can think to go with these is cream / white and obviously that's a really bad idea. Unless because the trousers are patterned and it's a green top I could get away with it?

Green silk this is lovely , also in other colours

RhubarbCrumbled · 28/04/2015 19:04

I can't get the link to the jacket to work but would the Frances Biker from Boden maybe make it look less bridal?

I love those trousers!

/enthusiastic but unhelpful

RhubarbCrumbled · 28/04/2015 19:11

The trousers are lovely and very flattering. Now get out there and find me a jacket!

Rhubarb- may I ask about the wedding venue and type of wedding eg small, civil ceremony in a registry office; civil ceremony in a stately home; religious ceremony in a place of worship? When I'm trying to decide on wedding outfits I like to wear something I like and that suits me but that also 'fits' with the venue etc.

I love the trousers you've bought but I think they'd need careful styling to ensure that they're formal enough for a large, church wedding for example IMHO (but also feel free to totally disregard this Grin)

RhubarbCrumbled · 28/04/2015 19:18

It's a large civil ceremony at a hotel. Dsis is wearing a traditional dress but loves the trousers too so that's good. It's mainly going to be a big party with all sorts of different people there so the variety of outfits will be astounding!

The main dress code for the day is look good and be able to dance to the early hours.

Right... I've been googling blazers and I'm thinking coral or navy silk. Silk adds a luxe feel.

Then, a simple cream top to wear under the blazer, a fabulous simple jewelled hair clip and some sorta fabulous bag and you're done.

Sorry to get personal but what's your budget?

Ignore the fact that the model's sporting wonky denim hot pants...

SageYourResoluteOracle · 28/04/2015 19:24

Gah. I can't link!

RhubarbCrumbled · 28/04/2015 19:27

Budget is negotiable but I don't buy clothes very often so tend to go for more classic clothes that will last. I've been looking at jackets up to about £150 and tops up to about £70. Then a bag and jewellery on top.

Is it blue in the trouser? Hard to see on my screen, if so I like this Hobbs blazer:

Ooooh! The lion is sleeping tonight, Awimbaway! Bang on the money with those blazers ... and you can do clicky links. Wah!

What say you, OP?

Also, there's a midnight blue 'Flowy Blazer' for £59.99 at Mango. Could look good too.

AWimbaWay · 28/04/2015 20:21

The links went clicky all by themselves Sage!

I love the shape of this anthropologie one:

RhubarbCrumbled · 28/04/2015 20:29

They're all really rather nice! I think I might be heading towards a biker type jacket as I have a gap in my wardrobe for one! But a slightly more flowey one, or the Dove jacket.

OP posts:
SageYourResoluteOracle · 28/04/2015 21:00

Well, how 'bout all 3 then? One for the ceremony, one for the wedding breakfast and the third for the evening do?! Just sayin!!

(And damn you, Awimbaway: I'm now lusting after the mint velvet indigo denim biker jacket and it's all your fault! Grin)

burnishedsilver · 28/04/2015 21:53

This is along the same lines from Asos. Monsoon did a jacket that matches your trousers. If you like the look they might be able to source one for you.

RhubarbCrumbled · 29/04/2015 08:18

I think I prefer something a bit less 'matchy'. Any thoughts on this jacket?

What's your colouring?

I wouldn't wear navy with such pale trousers but I'm pale with fair hair. I'd go for coral or pale grey or something. If you have more contrast between your hair/skin tone etc however it could work.

workadurka · 29/04/2015 10:24

Oh and I like the Reiss top.
