hair conditioner - silly question...

doormat123 · 27/04/2015 23:32

Not sure if this is a really dumb question, but here goes…

My hair is really dry and I'm thinking I should leave a conditioner in overnight…. does that mean I should shampoo it, and then apply conditioner to it and leave in without rinsing, or can I apply the conditioner straight onto my dry hair and just leave in all night? Any tips gladly received! Thank you!

Have you always had really dry hair or did something happen like hormonal changes, over styling, environmental factors?

Just put conditioner (or oil - coconut, olive or hair oil) onto dry hair (not up to your roots, just to ear level) and leave it overnight then wash as normal in the morning. Works a treat!!

You need to get a 'leave-in' conditioner .
Wash and shampoo your hair first

I'd have a shower and wash your hair as usual. Then apply a deep conditioning treatment, wrap your hair in clingfilm and then a warm towel. Leave for 15 mins to overnight depending on dryness/damage. Rinse and be swooshy.

You can apply it to dry hair at night and rinse it in the morning. Have you tried a weekly hair mask? I find the Aussie one to be really good, plus a leave in spray or cream after washing x

Any recommendations for leave in conditioners? (sorry for hijack op)

Aussie miracle recharge leave in conditioner is really good. Can be used on dry or damp hair and smells lovely too!

gaggiagirl · 28/04/2015 22:17

Sounds good thankyou always.

It isn't leave in but I love Phillip Kingsley elasticizer

MehsMum · 29/04/2015 07:44

I can second coconut oil; you could also try not using shampoo and just washing with conditioner (which is what I do).

Snowflake15 · 29/04/2015 08:06

Agree with blondie I have long, fine, damaged hair and Philip Kingsley elasticiser is a miracle worker. Plus you apply it before shampoo and conditioner as its a pre treatment, I'm way too impatient to hang around in the shower for 10-15 min with deep conditioner in. It's expensive but well worth it and lasts a long timeSmile
