Best method getting rid of broken veins on face?

Is laser the best option?

I tried IPL (as opposed to laser) for upper lip hair and it did nothing, so is it likely to be similarly ineffective on me for veins?

I had laser on thread facial veins around nose. It got rid of 70 percent roughly first time. Was done by a dermatologist. And was upwards of 300 quid. I don't remember exactly. Well well worth it but bruising was awful for 10 days and took another couple of weeks to clear altogether plus you have to stay out of the sun. Try your local spire hospital as this is where I had mine done. Would like to finish the job but the bruising was so bad I looked a nightmare at work and I had to delay a couple of external meetings!!

Hi. I had my first laser session 2 weeks ago. Like Kennington I had a lot of bruising but it was gone after 4 days. I can see a big improvement. The veins have reduced and the surrounding redness I had too has reduced. I have 2 more sessions to go. For me the bruising is worth the improvement.

Thanks. Clearly laser does much more than IPL then. When I was getting my lip done with IPL they did a couple of test zaps on my veins and it did improve them a tiny bit but there was certainly no bruising. If I was going to invest the money I'd like it to actually work!

How many sessions did you have/are you planning to have?

I think the number of sessions you will need depends on the scale of the problem but you will usually need more than one session. I agreed to 3 sessions with the clinic. I am booked in for a further session in 6 weeks time and then will probably have my final session later in the year. You do need to be aware that the treatment may not get rid of them completely and they can come back but the clinic will discuss this with you and will want to do a test patch on you so they can see how your skin reacts to the laser they use. The process itself is not pleasant as such but does not take very long - about 5-10 minutes all in for me. The worse bit was the cold air that blasts around your nose as you have to hold your breath. The laser does sting but only slightly and my face felt a little bit sore and slightly swollen. The bruising came up very quickly. I would carefully plan when you have the treatment. I chose to have it when I did not have any appointments or work for a few days. The bruising looked awful but in my case it was gone after day 4 - lots of arnica gel helped me.
