Sunscreen reapplication and make up.

I'm looking for a sunscreen for my face - I'm outside a large part of the day gardening and dog walking..., but they suggest for best protection you need to reapply every 2 hours, how do you manage this if you wear make up?

I like Clinique City block SPF 40. I went on hol to Florida, and found it protected all day. I have fair skin that burns, not tans, but didn't have a problem.

I used p20 under makeup and found it worked fine.

I'm not so concerned about the burning, just trying to avoid premature ageing....I'm assuming that the sun can cause premature ageing to your skin even when your skin isn't burned, so the lack of burning doesn't equal undamaged skin - or am I wrong?

If your main concern is ageing check your SPF has UVA protection. UVB is burning, UVA is ageing.

There are brush on powders you can top up over makeup to solve the reapplying issue but I haven't tried them.

Ultrasun is good. Once a day and looks ok under make up.

Another vote for Ultrasun - I used the Face protector 50+ in Italy last summer and didn't get so much as a freckle.

P20 is fab. Feels like an oil to apply but once it's dry you can't even feel it and it lasts all day

La Roche posay have a sun block powder foundation in a compact, which I've not had opportunity to try in the sun. Could be worth a look?

FoamyOne · 26/04/2015 22:56

I like Sunsense Daily Face. It's tinted and gives enough coverage that I can use it instead of foundation, so reapplying is easy.

Ultrasun once a day here too - we buy a big pump bottle from the internet at the start of summer

I use ultrasun once a day too.

SconessMcFloness · 27/04/2015 13:20

Thanks all I'm going to kick off with the ultrasun, as I tend to be too lazy to reapply make up nevermind sunscreen. Grin

Do you wear a hat and sunglasses? That could give a bit of extra protection.

SconessMcFloness · 27/04/2015 14:16

I always wear big sunnies but the hat thing is too annoying for everyday.
