Can I wear this to a wedding, or is it OTT?

I'm going to a wedding next weekend and have just bought a skirt very similar to the one in this picture - can I wear it or is it too much? I don't want to out-meringue the bride! I'd dress it down with either a plain black top or white shirt and low-key make-up & hair. The wedding is in a posh hotel, if that makes any difference.

I think it's beautiful. I would definitely wear it.

TheRollingCrone · 26/04/2015 19:13

Love it, Love it, Love it!

So glad you seem to have the green light from relevant parties.

Wear the shades too yeah? Grin

CloserToFiftyThanTwenty · 26/04/2015 20:32

So it is a bridal / bridesmaid skirt? Confused

It is beautiful though

Happy36 · 26/04/2015 21:06

Yes you can definitely wear it.

eddielizzard · 26/04/2015 21:12

i love it. wear it!

49again · 26/04/2015 21:41

I think it's fab if you can carry it off.

gruffaloshmuffalo · 27/04/2015 20:18

I want it for the wedding I'm going to in the summer. I'd feel all glam! Sadly, wouldn't stay that way with two boys under 4. But I'm very jealous

SanctimoniousWitches · 27/04/2015 20:19

I am going against the grain I guess but I think it's a bit dramatic for a wedding.

sweetmuffins · 27/04/2015 22:36

I do too, Sanctimonious. I do think it's too much and almost "look at me!" I'm not trying to be mean. I just honestly feel it's a bit out of place at someone's wedding. I wouldn't wear it myself but OP, the general consensus is to go for it and you want to so go ahead.

Dellla · 27/04/2015 22:42

yes, it's not so much upstaging the bride as laterally out-staging her.

MackerelOfFact · 27/04/2015 22:47

It's a bit eccentric, but unless you're going to the wedding of Shrek and Princess Fiona then no, you won't be mistaken for a member of the bridal party.

Wilding · 15/05/2015 10:01

To those who wanted an update - I wore it, with a very understated black top and plain hair/make-up, and had a lot of compliments Smile

I couldn't have upstaged the bride even if I'd wanted to, she looked absolutely stunning and had no problem with my outfit. There was someone else who turned up wearing a tiara, and another guest who was in white lace, so I didn't feel like I was too eccentrically dressed!
