Okay, how the eff do you eradicate, or at least dramatically reduce, blackheads?! Sad

I have bajillions of them. They're mostly tiny, but some are not. How do I keep the bigger pores at the side of my nose, for example, from filling up again?!

(Please, I need a) actual products b) that you've successfully used - not just 'bha scrub' or whatever)Flowers

Vichy Norma derm lotion at night
Flannel washing with wait rose essentials bar soap- any of them
Not using much sun cream-instead more zinc based physical blocks , not using Shea butter, petrolatum/mineral oil skin care- this rules out lots.....
Reducing silicone use in make up
I do like pre reducing primers but if I use too much I get blackheads

Tweezerman blackhead removal tool! It's heaven.

How to keep pores from filling up again - I'm not sure as I do enjoy removing blackheads so not a concern for me Grin. I'm sorry, that's gross! Hot cloth cleansing seems to work well for me though (superdrug's vitamin E hot cloth cleanser)!

Are they really blackheads, or just sebaceous filaments? (big words learned here on S&B!)

Leaningtoweroflisa · 25/04/2015 21:06

I am a total sucker for good write ups in the beauty columns of weekend papers. Few weeks ago waitrose argan oil cleanser got good review. Thought eh why not...

It is magic. I've has blackheads on my nose since age 10 sebaceous filaments weekly poking at them to empty them out etc. they have really gotten a lot less obvious! Shock

Dunno if oil cleaning method on general sorts them?

Marking my place for suggestions!

Does the blackhead tool help remove without leaving marks? DS has very very pale skin but is starting to get blackheads on his nose and I'm worried he'll scar if they are squeezed

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/04/2015 23:39

Closer I make my teen DS use one of those 'loop' tools. He whinges like a good 'un but nothing else seems to shift them.
The nose strips don't.

He uses the Neutrogena cleanser at night (and BodyShop/ Boots TeaTree Gel). In the shower Cetaphil.

they do leave a slight mark but if he does it at night and uses Tea Tree gel, he's fine by morning.

Thanks 70 - DS is only 10 Sad

I used to derive a perverse pleasure from using those pore strips, that dried and hardened over the affected areas. You took them off and...tada! Lots of tiny blackhead gunk standing to attention on the paper. Grin

CuttedUpPear · 26/04/2015 01:42

signora I used to love the nose strips but after a while I suspected that most of the little upright bits that were attached to the strip were actually tiny hairs.
