I need Birkenstock knowledge please

I've decided to buy my first ever pair of Birkenstocks. I've tried them on in store so I'm happy with fit and size etc. I really want a silver pair but I can't find any in the shops here in Ireland.

I've found some on Amazon but they are working out ridiculously expensive. But I've managed to find these ones a bit cheaper.

(Hope that link works). They are unisex child sandals. But I'm wondering about the fit. It has some proper child sizes ie 2 child narrow. They seem to go up to adult sizes (I'm looking for a five) but do you think they would be the same fit as an actual adult size 5? Has anyone bought child size ones?

I imagine that's a child size 5. Have you tried eBay? You can get new, boxed ones on there cheaper than Amazon. Not sure about postage to Ireland though but you could check with seller.

KnitterInTheNW · 24/04/2015 20:13

If you look on the size chart, UK 5 is a 38, so adult size 5. Is there an option to message the seller to ask before you order?

Thanks for the replies. I'll check out eBay and see if I can message the seller.

I've bought from this Irish shop online not too expensive and lots of silver here.

Thanks Birkie. I have looked at that site but I specifically want Arizonas which they don't have!

It's a nuisance isn't it when you have your heart set on something particular and it turns out to be hard to find.

I think the ones you linked to will always be that bit more expensive because they are sort of embellished rather than just silver. They are lovely though.

I'd be looking more at Europe than the UK if I was you as the exchange rate with sterling is awful at the moment.

If you decide to vary from the Arizona style I'd recommend these

There are some metsllic Arizona type ones on ASOS at the mo. Not silver, but close enough.

And don't discount the silver Floridas, also on ASOS. I saw a pair on a girl in real life and they looked amazing. Less clumpy than the Arizonas, if that makes sense.

BrennieGirl · 24/04/2015 22:46

I'd actually prefer a plain silver pair actually. I've now managed to find some on a German website but they only seem to have the narrow fit ones.

I don't think I'm meant to have them.

I'm a size 5 and believe I have wide feet. I can't fit into New Look shoes as they're too narrow. When I was a kid I was an F width in Clarks.

Anyway I have Birkies, Dorian ones and they're classed as a narrow fit but I find that they're fine.

I know that my sister (in Ireland) uses something called a parcel motel (I think!) for anything that either doesn't post or has expensive postage to Ireland. It might be worth looking that up.

thecatsm0ther · 24/04/2015 23:02

There's a german online shop that delivers free to the uk, I got my Birkenstock from there for £29 and they arrived in 3 days. This is the website. Definitely recommend them.

PrimalLass · 24/04/2015 23:06

I have the Floridas in silver and love them.
