Is this a bald patch, am very worried

After receiving compliments recently on my hair and how it looks thicker these days, my boyfriend mentioned yesterday that he thinks I've got a bald patch at the back of my head. My hair is fine and is due for colouring and I feel sure it's the grey showing through and my parting but he is convinced my hair is thinning. I've asked people at work and they agree with me. My hairdresser hasn't mentioned anything. But now I am really upset and feel worried as I know my hair is fine. Does anyone else have this problem?

Have you tried to take a photo in the mirror or something so you can see for yourself? I'm sure someone at work would say if you specifically asked them.

It's probably just the light! Most people's hair is thin at the sort of top-back of their heads, where the crown is. Would be a bit coincidental for an alopecia patch to start where most people have a natural thin spot! Also hair goes through phases. I have a patch of hair on my hairline which is just nonstop falling out and growing back in- annoying but oh well.

Are you sure you don't pull your hair out without realising by the way?

I'm sure you have a beautiful head of hair. Feel free to post a photo on here if you need reassurance.
But I also have to say that while hair loss can be upsetting to the individual, it's not terrible and it doesn't make women any less attractive :)

I hope your boyfriend is being sensitive to your feelings and kind about it by the way- he shouldn't be pressing the point like this, you sound quite upset because of what he's said.

Thanks for your replies. Yes I am upset. My boyfriend didn't intend to upset me, he said he was just being honest with me so I am aware. I know my hair is fine but it has been getting thicker since I've been caring for it more, not using straighteners as much and using treatments. I can see my grey roots showing at the top of my head so I think that's what it's like at the back. I feel very self conscious at the moment.
