my hair get so greasy. I do everything the Internet tells me, I wash it 2-3 times a week, only condition the ends etc but nothing works. say I wash my hair Monday morning, Tuesday morning it's greasy. if I want my hair down I have no choice but to wash it everyday. any shampoo recommendations for me to try.

I also have to wash my hair daily. I use a mild shampoo and a good conditioner. I just use whatever is on offer so no real recommendations! You could try dry shampoo if you don't want to wash it every day. I use it on DD for days in between washes and makes her hair smell lovely.

Try and go a few days without washing if possible my hair was like this and I got the flu was in bed for days didn't wash my hair for maybe 5 days then washed it and it was fine for another 4/5 days I now only wash it once a week. My hairdresser said I needed to let natural oils in my hair etc washing everyday is damaging

I'd agree with forcing it a bit tbh - I fractured my knee recently which made washing it a nightmare but the greasiness has improved as a result.

Other things I've found useful:
-Switch shampoo a lot - I often have multiples on the go at any one time
-Dry shampoo to stretch it for another day (helps with the transition)
-only washing my fringe (gets greasier faster)
-Curling it - generally lets me get at least 1 extra day out of it if not 2, especially if I use a bit of dry shampoo first

That all sounds a bit of a faff to avoid washing your hair, but I think it does adjust so it's worth doing

I used baby shampoo this week witht no conditioner afterwards and my hair felt lovely and fresh and swishy. Definitely couldn't use it all the time but it did deep clean my hair! Don't be afraid to go conditioner free occasionally. And avoid silicones for regular use, save them for occasions.

Nothing really works but using dry shampoo every second day, sadly.

I have this same problem and I wash every other day and on the days in between I tie it up. I tried to extend the days for about a year but it made no difference, I think if you have greasy hair then you can't really change that. I just bought the Aussie mega shampoo and that's really nice x

I find if I put dry shampoo on before I go to bed (the same day I wash it) my hair is ok down the next day and even sometimes ok in a ponytail for a third day. I haven't found any shampoo that can go 2 days on its own though :(

AmelieinOz · 24/04/2015 23:35

I have to wash my hair every day too. It just gets too greasy the next day, even during Winter.

I've tried the dry shampoo but since it's white powder, it's really noticeable on my dark hair. I also don't see any difference between that and good old cheapo Johnsons baby powder, to be honest.

Batiste make coloured dry shampoo which is good for dark hair

Thanks for the tip!!! I'll check it out :)

Hairspray on the roots will dry them out a bit too.

I have very straight, very silky hair and without dry shampoo I would need to wash it daily. Praise the Lord for dry shampoo basically.
