Another bra quest question

Akire · 22/04/2015 18:51

Finally I've had loads of bras to try on at home...... Can't get out to shops. Ordered a 36 c and 36 d. 36 d alittle to large on cups, 34 perfect in cups.

BUT always a but! The band on 36c is nearly an inch shorter than the other. Surely the band part should be the same length? It's digging in and left red mark after 2min so what blimey size do I need now! A 38B? 38C Don't you go down a cup if up a band hate hate bra buying

Sends back yet another batch

Cab you confirm those sizes I'm lost re the 34!

dementedpixie · 22/04/2015 18:59

Have you measured according to this: thebetterbracampaign.blogspot.co.uk/p/fitting-advice.html?m=1

Akire · 22/04/2015 19:03

I've measured and got advice on here and then ordered lots of sizes to be in with fighting chance! Just sent one load back.... Sorry stupid ipad typing. I'm 34.5 inches around but all other 34 to tights.

I have 36C perfect cups but to tight around.
36D to big in cup but 36band is perfect length

Are you 34.5 under and 39 over?

StatisticallyChallenged · 22/04/2015 20:09

And what size and brand of 34s did you try

Akire · 22/04/2015 20:16

34 was marks but wearing a marks 36 which fits fine just cup b is to small. But I tried a 34 e and f in marks to cover bases.

Just wanted to know if theory all 36 bands the same. Or if go up size would o need to go down a cup. Would like bra #7 and #8 to have good chance of fitting!

OP posts:
Akire · 22/04/2015 20:18

I was advised 34 e/f but cups massive and tight on band hence going up to 36 and trying c/d. Feel like bloody giving up

AnythingNotEverything · 22/04/2015 20:23

When you say the cups are too big, are you scooping? All that stuff that looks like overspill orback fat is often breast tissue.

Akire · 22/04/2015 20:27

The d nearly fits but excess fabric at nipple end so get the dimpled boob look. Maybe I just have abnormal sizes.

AnythingNotEverything · 22/04/2015 20:39

I wonder if the style is wrong for you

dementedpixie · 22/04/2015 20:41

What styles are you trying?

Akire · 22/04/2015 20:41

I'm trying thin ish t shirt bras and basic fabric ones. Any tips be great fully received!

StatisticallyChallenged · 22/04/2015 20:48

Tip 1...stop trying on marks bras. They're shit in general and the sizing isn't reliable at all

I think you probably need to try a 34d/dd I'm a decent brand. What shape are your boobs?

Akire · 22/04/2015 20:53

The last lot were from BHS. Will try 34 D/dd as last attempt. My then have try wait few months see if well enough to try get out to a shop. Being housebound is no fun I'm only 39 hardly can stick them all in d lady shapeless bra!

OP posts:
Akire · 22/04/2015 20:55

That's old lady shapeless bra!

OP posts:
StatisticallyChallenged · 22/04/2015 21:16

TBH, BHS is no better. They just don't have the quality control, or just plain quality in general! Fabrics are often pretty poor, sizing is all over the place.

Sorry, I was posting from phone earlier so couldn't type long messages! If you're sitting somewhere between a 36C and 36D cup wise, then that would mean somewhere between a D/DD in a 34 band.

Can you please look at your breasts and try to work out whether they:
-are fuller on the top, bottom, or kind of even?
-whether you have a wide or narrow gap between them (so how much flat space between them in the middle)
-whether they are wide or narrow rooted (so how far round the outside of your body do they go? Are they very much planted upfront, or do you have breast tissue quite far under your arms and tend to find you have armpit bulging in some bras?

  • are your breasts particularly high set on your frame? So where does the top of your breast tissue start say in relation to your armpits - if they're high set you might find that tops which look totally fine on everyone else make you look, well, overexposed!

Have a think about that, and anything else you've noticed about your shape. That'll help us to suggest a few specific bras which might work. If you can let me know what your overbust measurement was that might help too, just in case the cup sizing on the ones you were trying is also way off. at 34.5, you really shouldn't need a 36 unless you have a very broad ribcage with no padding on it, or your ribs flare out dramatically or similar.
