Anyone seen any? I am thinking smartish and definitely not linen. Suitable for a sizet 10, 32ins leg.

On phone at the moment so can't do any links, but anyway.

What is your budget?

Whistles have some high waisted wide-leg black trousers which are £190 (!!!)

Also higher end Winser London have a really lovely pair, side fastening (which I love as so flattering), at £150, same style in silk for quite a lot more, and some front fastening which are again a bit more expensive.

They also have a wide-legged pontes trouser which they call their 'miracle trouser'.

Me+Em also have some wide-leg black trousers - called 'man pant'. Marks &Sparks had some excellent wool wide-leg trousers in their Best of British line.

Next have some. They are a nice dressy style.

I had the Me and Em man pants from a couple of years ago when they made them in a heavy jersey. Great quality, but like all their wide leg trouser styles, they actually have a slight flare which I didn't like. The current photos they have on their site are pretty accurate of the style.

I now have the Winser miracle wide leg trousers. Again, they are a heavy jersey but would work for both smart and casual. They don't have a waistband or fly or any tailoring, just some funny dart things to shape them, so they just pull on. Also, they are very fitted at the top and around the bum, and high waisted. For this reason I sized up as high waisted doesn't suit my shape and it also made them less fitted round the bum. Customer service was excellent and delivery super fast (but expensive!)

Cheaper, Cos had some in a smarter heavy weight silky fabric with a tie waist which were lovely and super drapey.

I was willing to pay a bit more, so I'm afraid I didn't look at mid-range high street but I bet Next and M&S would have some. With both stores, they will probably style them super frumpy online, so you may have to look past that and just try them on.

Sorry - posted too early! These are the Next ones. There are others on the website.

HappyGirlNow · 22/04/2015 16:31

Zara have some online.

The Next ones look good - will investigate. The whistles ones are way over budget and I will look at Me and em as got a dress from there which is lovely. I have two old pairs from m&s which have actually lasted about 5 years but seen better days. I used to buy these all the time in Mango but don't have a store nearby these days. There are a few on asos (own brand) but don't know what the quality is like?

banana republic?

niminypiminy · 22/04/2015 19:47

I never thought I'd hear myself say this, but the Next ones look god. I wonder what the fabric's like?

Very interested to hear about those Winser miracle trousers, I have been eyeing them for a while.

CiderwithBuda · 22/04/2015 23:07

The next ones feel quite nice. Nice fabric - hangs well and doesn't crease.

I ordered them an picked them up today. Not sure I will keep them as they are dressier than I expected. They looked more casual and slouchy in the photo.

Boden have a pair called Olivia that might have potential.
