Joe Brown's - yay or nay?

Just flicking through a little Joe Brown's leaflet. I really like the look of some of their stuff, but wonder about the quality. Has anyone ordered from them? Is the quality ok? And what do you think of JB generally? Some of their things are a bit out-there for me, I know, but I do like some of the dresses.

I like some of their stuff. Bought two tunics, fairly plain, last summer and a linen dress. They turned out to be good quality and I've had lots of compliments.

Ordered a top recently and it was dreadful material so it's going back.

It's like most mail order stuff. You can't really tell until you get it and try it on.

Some of it is really pretty, some of it is completely bonkers.

Main question is, OP, do you like it?

Randomsquiggle · 22/04/2015 21:30

I really like the pattern and shape of this but to be honest, I've only just seen how short it is. It'd be much better mid-calf length. Flicking through their website now, a lot of their stuff really is very mad!

I would wear this on holiday, too.

Sorry Op ?? if you like it wear it.

Orangeanddemons · 22/04/2015 21:57

All their stuff looks like a cross between Per Una and White Stuff to me. I wish I could unsee some of those dresses on their website

Orangeanddemons · 22/04/2015 22:00

I mean, come ondire and this little number

Selks · 22/04/2015 22:05

Nay. Most of it is overly patterned and hideous.

Randomsquiggle · 22/04/2015 22:29

It is a bit odd, isn't it, the Joe Brown's look? I really want a new dress for the summer. Not really convinced by any of them. A few are 'almost but not quite.' Hmm.

I've bought dh a couple of shirts from Joe browns which were quite nice. I'm somehow still on their mailing list but I just don't like the women's stuff. It's like Per Una on acid.

NoRockandRollFun · 24/04/2015 21:03

Nay. I've filed Joe Browns with Desigual and Per Una in "to avoid".

pictish · 24/04/2015 21:05

Some yay most nay.

Grantaire · 24/04/2015 21:14

The quality used to be heaps better. These days it's rubbish.

Try Gudrun Sjoden, Gringo, Nomads, Namaste, People Tree and Uttam for similar things done much better.

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 24/04/2015 21:18

Dated looking and vile fabrics. Just no.
