Advice on using tretinoin pls

I started using tretinoin (0.5%) two months ago.
No peeling or flaking so been fine.
Really can't see any difference though.
Do I need to combine it with hydroquinine to get better results?
Or would 0.1% be better?
Also what's the difference between Obagi Nu Derm and tretinoin?

The Obagi system has tretinoin as one of its components, the other main component being hydroquinone. Using the two together does produce better results, the combination of hydroquinone and tretinoin is basically the heart of the Obagi system if that makes sense.

Also just to be clearer, using hydroquinone with your tretinoin will help lighten any pigmentation but won't help with wrinkles. So when you are asking if using the two would give better results, it depends what result you are after.

Are you under the care of a dermatologist or doing it on your own? A Derm will give you a specific programme for whatever results you are after. Depending on what you want to achieve, you may want to start using the 0.1% (only available on prescription as far as I know). It also depends how frequently you are using the Tret and how much you are using. If it's for ant-aging you don't need hydroquinone. If it's for hyperpigmentation, it all depends on what has caused it and how marked it is. As you should not use hydroquinone continuously, some people who are on a break from the Obagi Nu Derm system use Tretinoin in combination with something else like kojic acid or azalaic acid.

You probably already know that sunscreen of 30 - 50 spf (not just a moisturiser with a bit of spf) every day is a must.

Thank you.
Yes factor 50 on face every day.
I have hyperpigmentation on my cheeks. Went to GP and he basically told me there was nothing he could do and I had to live with it.
Can't afford to see dermatologist so purchased some tretinoin online.
Have been using at night, small amount on cheeks and forehead (to help with wrinkles!). As I say can't see any change in hyperpigmentation or wrinkles.

I have been using 0.05%, I have had redness and peeling but that's stopped now and I'm going to start on the 0.1% as soon as I've finished the the tube......if you haven't flaked then I would up the strength.
