Cute or frumpy wedding outfit?

Please help me decided if this dress is cute or frumpy. I am size 12/14, large bust, nice legs, decent arms, 38 yo.

How should I style it, I was thinking patent nude peep toe heels and a patent nude clutch, some kind of necklace, I might lose the belt as I think it looks dressier without...

I also like this Ted Baker dress (from the Outlet here) but it will be twice the price...and I don't have any other upcoming events/weddings

Wedding is at the beginning of June, we are going to the church and the evening.

Also welcome other dress suggestions.

Many thanks Flowers

I like the first one you linked to, but would probably go with a shoe colour, in patent, to pick out one of the dress colours so aquamarine, or purple or blue. I'd then match the bag to one of the other colours in the dress. Maybe with a v.simple necklace or drop earrings?
Agree with changing the belt too - either remove altogether or replace with a skinny.

If you did want to consider other floral options dress-wise, then how about:

Off the shoulder floral - ASOS for £62, or you could book and collect from HoF for £61.99...

It's also worth looking on www.shopstyle.co.uk - they are one of those collation type sites, so pull in items from a range of shops.

ICantDecideOnAUsername · 20/04/2015 22:21

Of the OP's links I prefer the second one. I think you could easily dress it up or down. However, I also love the ASOS off the shoulder dress.

I wish I could get away with dresses like that. I hate my legs

AmelieinOz · 20/04/2015 22:34

OP - Love both dresses. I'd wear the second though if going to an evening reception.

oobedobe · 20/04/2015 22:42

Thanks for the feedback! I love the ASOS floral dress but I need a good sturdy bra and the straps would show.

I like the idea of a coloured patent heel, might make it a bit funkier (I love floral but do worry about look like an old frump!) - I am wary of being matchy matchy but will see what is in the shops that might work - also I think I am going to go with a pointed toe rather than peep-toe for a little 'edge'.

I do love the Ted Baker dress but I think it works better on a skinnier girl than my curves. I will go tomorrow and try different styles on.

First dress is lovely.

Second one ok but that neckline would be terrible on my big boobs.

I'd go for colourful accessories for the first dress. Nude shoes are Dullsville.

Andthen · 20/04/2015 22:49

Love the first dress! I would pick out one of the colours in it for my shoes and bag but I am a little too "matchy". I think nude would be lovely. Have a great time!

Pumpkinette · 21/04/2015 08:24

The first dress is the nicest. You might need to size up and get it altered to accommodate large norks (I am of similar size as you and that's what I need to do) I find a lot of dresses from designers are small on the bust and I suspect that dress will be the same.

Allie82 · 21/04/2015 21:35

First one is really nice and I like the belt but for a wedding I would probably remove it. I personally would wear some clashing shoes, I'm thinking hot pink courts and clutch Shock

aprilmay · 21/04/2015 21:41

Love the first one. Agree the neckline on the Ted Baker one isn't 'right'.

I'd lose the belt too!

Alpinecrunch · 21/04/2015 21:49

I really don't like the first one and prefer the second one. There's a Nicole Farhi sale on in House of Fraser with really lovely dresses just over £100.

shadesofwinter · 21/04/2015 21:53

Not keen on the first one. I agree that the second one probably wouldn't be very flattering for big boobs.

BackforGood · 21/04/2015 22:01

Much prefer the 1st one rather than the 2nd.
Not sure how long 35" is on you ? Obv difficult to judge when not on a person, but in the picture it does look quite short.

Agree with others saying I would go for a bright coloured shoe and bag.
What jacket / bolero / wrap are you going for?

Runningupthathill82 · 22/04/2015 05:30

I can't see either of these dresses working well with a large bust. The first one I think you'd have more luck with, but as a pp said, you may have to size up and then get it taken in at the waist.

You'd need a well fitting bra with a neckline and straps like that, to stop boob escapage at the sides.

I think you'd also need a shrug or similar. And maybe blue shoes to pick out the blue in the dress? Lose that belt!
