Does anyone have a Marc by Marc Jacobs bag?

I'm thinking about buying a Natasha bag. Does anyone have one and would they recommend? It's about the maximum I would spend on a bag so it's got to be perfect.

Does it just have one compartment?

Saks have got a 30% off code flashing at the top of their site ( available until 27/4/15) and are also including free p&p. However you do still have to pay duty making the bag around £229. Is that too much money?

Dancergirl · 22/04/2015 22:09

Ooohh, that sounds very tempting Smile And that's not a bad price....

Oh no, Saks don't have the colour I want - the dark red Sad

The free postage at saks is only within the US - you have to pay for international.

A second recommendation for Shopstyle though, it's a great way of finding bargains - here - just be aware the US prices are before tax (although still often a little cheaper)

BallroomWithNoBalls · 23/04/2015 09:11

I like the quilted black one Smile

Dancergirl · 23/04/2015 09:30

Thanks for the Shopstyle tip, I have found this:

www.farfetch.com/uk/shopping/women/item10936789.aspx

Still v expensive though.

Does anyone know if Farfetch is a legitimate place to buy?

OP posts:
BallroomWithNoBalls · 23/04/2015 10:31

Yes it is, I've used Farfetch - to buy a Marc by Marc Jacobs wallet Grin

It's good as it is just a middleman for boutiques all over Europe. Often you can find different colours etc than what's available here, and sometimes a bit cheaper. So you're buying from the boutique really but with the Farfetch guarantee.

I love that burgundy colour, will be gorgeous with a winter coat.

AppleYumYum · 23/04/2015 10:36

Yes I think it is fine, it's coming from a shop called Chin's in Germany if you scroll down, Farfetch is a collection of shops around the world selling things rather than a shop with it's own stock.

herethereandeverywhere · 23/04/2015 10:47

I have a Marc by Marc Jacobs hobo. By far the best wearing bag I've ever owned. Used almost every day for last 18 months and still looks like new. (And I've owned Mulberry x3, Gucci, Chloe to compare) Really great quality for the price.

Dancergirl · 23/04/2015 10:52

Shall I go for it?? Do you think the burgundy is nicer than taupe?

OP posts:
leedy · 23/04/2015 11:02

Ooh, that burgundy colour is absolutely gorgeous - do it!

Farfetch is fine, I've bought a jumper from an Italian retailer through it before - as PP have said it's a site that does online retail for lots of smaller European shops.

MooMinCow · 23/04/2015 11:04

They have an outlet at Bicester Village you could try phoning them to see if they have that style in stock?

Dancergirl · 23/04/2015 11:05

I did try that moo! They only had odd colours in, yellow and bright pink.

OP posts:
MooMinCow · 23/04/2015 11:07

That's a shame (was thinking of heading down there next week as they have a further 20% off promotion on in certain brands)

BallroomWithNoBalls · 23/04/2015 11:43

Ooh I didn't know Bicester had a MBMJ outlet...

Apparently the Marc by Marc range is going to be gone soon, it's just going to be Marc Jacobs. Hopefully the bags will remain good and (relatively) affordable. With Mulberry's prices going sky high, MBMJ is one of the few brands I feel are appropriate for my income and lifestyle. Doesn't stop me lusting after more expensive brands anyway

jimmybim · 23/04/2015 18:07

The free saks p&p is to the uk until 30/4/15 if you spend over $100. But only the rosy red one is in stock.

Melfish · 23/04/2015 18:24

I have a Natasha and it is a lovely bag. Only prob is that the two 'patches' that hold the strap in place at either end have peeled away from the side of the bag a bit and the underside is a tan colour which is a bit obvious against the black of the rest of the bag. I suspect it might be due in part to being overloaded at times. I bought a Marc Jacobs Hobo about 8 years ago, I think it's called Softy or Cosy or something silly like that, and the quality of that bag seems better, e.g. Better quality liner, Covered magnetic fastening rather than the popper style one on the Natasha, although the former has demagnetised my season ticket on occasion

cardoon · 25/04/2015 18:52

Thanks for the Saks code Dancer - have just ordered the Natasha in rosey red, you can also go through Quidco for another 5% off. Did you order in the end?

Dancergirl · 25/04/2015 20:20

I ordered from Farfetch - got the dark red colour. Bit of an extravagance but I can't wait for it to arrive!

OP posts:
Cahu5 · 25/04/2015 23:43

I have found Shopbop.com the cheapest website.

cardoon · 26/04/2015 07:46

Cheaper at the moment from Saks with 30% off plus free shipping - if you can find size/colour you want.

cardoon · 26/04/2015 20:33

Hmm, is the new classic q natasha with the thicker strap and the shoulder pad bit smaller than the older style with the thin strap......I keep thinking I've ordered the mini by mistake, but when I check it's definitely the classic q - perhaps it's sized somewhere inbetween? Confused

MarniRose · 26/04/2015 20:43

I've got a mini Q and it's ok. Small!

My main gripe with MJ bags is the branding in it. I like really discreet branding so my vote goes to LK Bennett bags these days. I've got three and they're amazing quality, lovely soft leather, brushed hardware and, crucially, very discreet embossed branding

Dancergirl · 28/04/2015 11:16

It has arrived today from Farfetch. Regular size in dark red/burgundy.

I totally love it, lovely soft leather, great design, very comfortable Smile

Feeling a bit guilty about spending nearly £300 on a bag, someone help me justify it please!

OP posts:
MrsMcGregor · 28/04/2015 13:59

Enjoy it, use it .... justified! Think of the more times you use it, the cheaper your cost per wear will be! Have my eye on it in blue but would love to see it irl.
