Mine do too. Looking forward to some advice!

Mine do this and always have done. The only thing I've found to help is gel/shellac polish. I bought a lamp on amazon and do it myself at home. The polish adds strength and holds the nail together, and can be removed with regular nail varnish remover without causing any damage.
however, I don't know if your daughter coukd get away with clear polish at school?

NeverTalksToStrangers · 19/04/2015 09:18

Mine do this too. Depending on how bad they are you could try nailtiques formula 2 or 2+.

Do you mean nails or nail varnish?

Peeling nails could be a sign of Vitamin D deficiency, I'd get her tested for it.

CurlsLDN · 19/04/2015 09:44

In my case it's the actual nails that peel, the gel polish holds them together and allows them to build up strength.
Not a vit d issue in my case

stripytees · 19/04/2015 11:23

Sally Hansen Miracle Cure really helped mine. It looks like a clear polish.

peeling nails can be a sign of a vitamin or mineral deficiency in mine it was Vit D and DD's case it was lack of Iron.

OP it may be worth taking your DD to the GP just to get it checked out.

sharingeverythingtwice · 19/04/2015 12:44

Yes it's her nails that peel not nail varnish. I had wondered about vitamin deficiency as she is an extremely fussy eater, I struggle to get her to eat any sources of iron and protein. Her nails are really starting to bother her so maybe this will finally be a way to get her to extend what she'll eat. I'll give the Sally Hansen treatment a go as well.

It's a vitamin / mineral deficiency.

Would she take a supplement?

sharingeverythingtwice · 19/04/2015 14:45

What type of supplement would you suggest?

Cnd solar oil is really great to strengthen nails if you wanted to try putting something on them aswell

southeastastra · 19/04/2015 15:08

try switching to a crystal nail file, mine don't peel at all after switching from a paper file.
