Mulberry Bayswater satchel - what colour?

Right, after a long period of saving umming and aahing I have decided to buy the lovely Mulberry Bayswater satchel as my weekend handbag.

I love the tan colour as it looks classic and goes with everything but as this is a weekend bag should I be more exciting and choose a colour? Probably not the yellow, but any other thoughts? Does the tan look a bit too boring?

Yes, I love the tan and that's what I would go for.

But that's because a bag like that would be a long term bag for me and I would want it to be in a classic colour so I could get the most out of it over the years.

Otherwise, maybe a navy or oxblood.

Thank you! Well it will certainly be a long term bag for me (I hope!! Has anyone had bad quality experience with Mulberry?).

I've decided on tan on the basis that it works for summer and winter. The coloured ones looked a bit light/bright for winter and navy/ox blood too heavy for summer.

Excited. Have to wait until end of the month tho!

Are you are anywhere near Bicester as they have an outlet there? The quality was much poorer then I anticipated and I left without buying! Having said that they are still very pretty, personally I would go for oxblood :-)

Thanks Allie. I'm in London so could pop out to Bicester but I won't have the time to be honest as it would mean a half day. Sad to hear quality not great. Rubbish that a high end Brit product can't produce something beautiful and durable.

I have quite a few mulberry bags, some of which have been used extensively and the quality is great. I do look after them by using a waterproofing spray and cream to nourish the leather. If you are paying any hundreds of pounds for something it's worth looking after.

I have four bayswaters including the oak, it's great all year round. They tend not to come up at the outlets too often although you may be lucky, I got a black Bayswater from the York outlet. Try to look at a few, wherever you get it from as the leathers do vary between bags. You will hopefully find a grain that's just right for you, the sales assistants are used to being asked to get several bags out for you to choose from. Hope you find a good one.
