How to dress in summer when you're a winter

I'm a sultry winter according to HOC and can't seem to find anything to wear this summer. I love coral and all the pastels but they don't suit me. I can wear black or navy and white but find them so boring.
Any links to summery clothes for winters would be much appreciated.

Watching with interest! I did winter quite well this winter (for work anyway - I'm rubbish at casual) but finding it harder in summer. Navy, grey and black are hard to make summery!

Come over to the Winter thread, people are always posting links to new purchases.

I'm a Jewel Winter and in summer tend to stick to white, navy, silver, cobalt blue, fuschia etc. I'm also a Romantic a classic so can't do casual at all which is especially tricky in the summer!

I'm a winter.

For casual Spring I wear jeans (in blue and grey...searching for some decent white ones!) with tops in my colours (I tend towards the blues and greys and white), with white Converse or white/silver/pewter sandals.

I've got a couple of new, plain maxi dresses in navy and grey, and a white & grey patterned one.

I still wear my winter colours - charcoal, navy, indigo - basically.

I find it easier in summer, to be honest, as colours like cobalt blue and raspberry feel fresh. The only colours I ditch in summer are the dark/emerald greens.

There are a lot of blues that suit winter colouring about at the moment in the shops.

Thanks for the replies. I've bought some light grey skinny jeans and might get the cobalty coloured ones from oasis. I struggle with tops due to my shape so I guess that isn't helping and I had totally forgotten about the raspberry and other winter pinks, so that might be worth looking at. I tend to lump all pinks together as a colour I can't wear, like orange and yellow.

I haven't had colours done, but think I'm probably a winter of some sort. I tend to live in black, white and grey with bits of denim blue and the occasional bit of bright pink pretty much year round though, so not much help to you.

If I want to wear something that feels really summery, a bright yellow skirt for example, I pair it with a black top.

as sorrell said! come and join us here.

I wear a lot of navy and grey tops with brighter coloured cardigans. This summer I'm branching out into brighter tops but if I'm wearing navy or grey I often add in a coloured belt or bag to add in some colour. I look best in all the greens/blues.

I still normally wear neutral colours in the Summer (with the exception to going through a phase of wearing neon - it didn't suit me at all!).
There's so many grey/black/white dresses out there that are lovely. I just pair with bright shoes or a belt, or even perhaps a bright lipstick? (I've not done that one though!)

I do wear black and navy in the Summer but would tend to 'lift' a black dress with some silver sandals and pink toe nails.

I definitely wear more white. I think a white lace top/ t shirt works beautifully in the Summer with black/ navy/ denim bottoms.

There are quite a few gorgeous jewel coloured/ patterned trousers around which are lovely mixed with a white or dark navy t shirt.

Have you tried white jeans and white skirts too? V much Spring/ Summer items!

I'm a sultry too.. I stick to navy, white, splash of fuchsia or cobalt and stick to navy white or light grey linen bottoms.

SmileAndNod · 18/04/2015 20:03

I'm a winter too. Live in navy, black, silver and white (linen) in the summer. With bits of red, fuchsia and cobalt blue. I know I can't wear pastel, or yellow or orange so just avoid those.

Not been on the winter thread for ages, must pop over.

mimiasovitch · 18/04/2015 20:52

Hi tickled. I'm a sultry winter too, though I have a strong attachment to the jewel colours. I tend to wear a lot of black, white and navy, with the winter brights. Today I've worn black palazzo pants with a white pattern, a long white vest and a fuchsia cardigan. Plus fluffy socks and a blanket as I've been ill today. My summer shoes are either red or pink, as they seem to complement everything else I wear, though I fancy a pair of silver ballet flats too. I honestly think bright sunshine looks lovely with lots of the winter colours.

LittleMissRayofHope · 18/04/2015 20:55

This may sound kind of ignorant but how do you know what season you are and where do I find out??

I am a winter person and struggle through summer to dress cos I don't think anything suits me but I don't think that's what you are meaning....
