Advice on where to buy trousers

Hi everyone!
I'm after a bit of help - I have recently lost weight and now seem pretty static at my current weight (size 10-12-14 depending on shop) so am looking for some good trousers - black for work and jeans. My problem is I'm a classic pear, small on top (which isn't an issue) 28" waist but large hips and chunky short legs! All the trousers I have found are too big in the waist/ small in the hips. Leggings / jeggings/ crop or tapered at the ankle make my legs look worse. I don't mind shortening trousers but don't want to alter them more than that. Any ideas on shops that cater for the smaller waist chunkier leg look!

I got these for £15 in store and find them flattering. I'm fairly hourglassy so need the waist/hip ratio thing to work. www.gap.co.uk/browse/product.do?pid=000760954009&vid=2&tid=gupl000191&kwid=1&ap=13&sem=true&mkwid=WAzyDLujproduct+ads0

I have previously found Oasis to be good too.

Mintvelvet is a great brand for the curves. Im a classic pear - ( and a stylist) and I can recommend the leather faux leggings www.mintvelvet.co.uk/leather-look-&-jersey-legging/trousers/mint-v/fcp-product/4413

Depending on the industry you work in, this can be a work trouser depending how you dress it up.

The trick for hiding your "problem areas" is to shift the attention elsewhere. So with the trouser above, wear it with a nice bright top and bring the attention to the top. and of course top it off with heels! it helps elongate your legs.

Hope this helps.

Hi thanks both of you. I haven't been in Oasis For a few years and never Heard of Mintvelvet so will have to have a look. I do tend to wear plain trousers and colourful tops/ jewellery etc. so just need to persevere and try a load more trousers on. I'm hating the current trend of tapered ankles though - seem to be everywhere and they really look ridiculous on me!!

Dorothy Perkins! Their trousers are perfect for pear shaped with big bum/hips/ thighs and a really cheap.

mummop25, what are mint velvet trouser sizes like?

Oly4 · 16/04/2015 21:34

Boden Chelsea trousers or Bistro trousers are great for pears. Loads of stretch and last ages too

Pointlessfan · 16/04/2015 21:37

I was going to suggest Oasis or DP too.

MadauntofA · 16/04/2015 21:45

DP - again a shop I haven't been in for ages! Thanks for all the suggestions

Hi Angelwings74 - the mint velvet sizing are generous for the curvy body. So if I were to compare I definitely wouldn't be able to fit into a ted baker 12 ( their cuts are smaller and tend to favour the straight body) .

Hope this helps.

I'm on a "mission" to help women dress their curves :) . Curves are beautiful.

AngelWings74 · 17/04/2015 06:00

That's great thank you mummop25!! I really struggle with trousers as my waist is a small compared to my generous hips and bottoms. I'm not sure I would ever fit into Ted Baker trousers!!

Am really on a mission to find some trousers that fit!

Thanks for your help. Will let you know how I get on

I just got some amazing jeans from Debenhams - Jasper Conran high waist fit and lift (or something similar). My shape is similar to yours and they are, without a doubt, the best jeans I have ever bought.
