Foundation for wedding - please help!

Hi all, I'd like to draw on your foundation knowledge please.

I'm getting married in October and wanted to find a foundation that's going to stay on and not give that 'white face' look in photographs.

I've got large pores all round my nose so will be using some L'Oreal primer (as polyfiller!). I'd kind of like something that gives good coverage without looking too caked. Does such a thing even exist?

Skin type is combination in case that makes any difference

All help very gratefully received Smile

I love dior, I use the star one all they time and apply with the Dior sponge think it gives good coverage and dior have that fancy machine thingy to colour match.
Just tried a sample of the new Dior one too which seems slightly more coverage and it seemed good too . Perhaps u could go and try some on and see what u think!
Good luck ??

Try as many as you can, but reassess nearer to the wedding.

Your skin tone might change throughout the year.

I love Dior Star and Make Up For Ever HD Foundation also photographs beautifully.

I used Illamasqua skin base for my wedding, I love it.

I think the thing that gives the 'white face' in photographs is when a foundation has SPF in it- it causes the camera flash to reflect back. I've heard Make Up For Ever HD foundation get a lot of reccomendations.

Would you consider getting your makeup done professionally for the day? I'm quite a makeup obsessive, and I can't get mine to look right in pictures... No matter what I do, I either look washed out or overdone.

I recommend hourglass veil primer and their immaculate liquid powder foundation. They do good sized samples.

As pp said, if you're doing if yourself try several, and if you go professional pick someone you're happy with and you like how they do their own make up.

I also remember being told to avoid facials beforehand in case you breakout.

As the PP said, spf can give 'white photo face' and I'd also be careful of anything with light reflecting particles because they will reflect the camera flash. Bear in mind that things like touché éclat can have a similar effect so go easy around the eyes to avoid the reverse panda look.

My makeup lady used inglot on me but my personal favourite is the bobbi brown skin stick which I would have used had I done it myself

MaudieAtkinsonsGardeningHat · 16/04/2015 23:03

Brilliant! Thank you for those recommendations.

Will try and get some samples I think and avoid the SPF and light reflecting particles. Think that's where I've gone wrong in the past. I usually go for light reflecting to make me look less sleep deprived brighter, so will avoid for the wedding foundation hunt.

Is it pricey to get make-up done professionally? It's only a small wedding and we're trying not to go crazy.

I had a make up lesson from a vg mu artist before my wedding and she recommended Estée Lauder double wear light. I never would have chosen it myself, but it was great, and have seem it recommended as the top choice in an interview with lots of professional muas when asked what best for photographs. Too heavy for me for everyday use though, I like a dab of bb cream!

Lisa Eldridge has wedding make up videos on her site, might be worth taking a look too.
