Mint Velvet is it the greige lovers Per Una or naice? Can't decide.

I mean I am attracted to all the grieginess and muted what-not but is it the tiniest bit Per una with a touch of the 'I've still got it in a Loose Woman stylee' sappy biker.

I am Peri-menopausal and recognised I am becoming increasingly style challenged. Not enough to consider Boden 'culottes' golf shorts a great sartorial offering, mind.

So what do you think? Am I starting down a crusty path with the greige fondness or it is stylish?

Greige Per Una is bang on. Far too floaty and floppy for me.

burnishedsilver · 15/04/2015 18:27

I'm not seeing the similarity.

Mv are much better at Winter clothes than they are at Sumner clothes. I never buy anything there in the Summer.

pinkrocker · 15/04/2015 18:33

I like Mint Velvet stuff but it's v expensive for what it is.
Is there a buy and sell or swap page anywhere??

Mumblechum1 · 15/04/2015 18:33

MV is the White Company's even more boring little sister.

lurkingaround · 15/04/2015 18:39

Yy, too floaty and flappy for me too. Not my thing.

KissyBoo · 15/04/2015 18:43

really burnished?

Some things are lovely, some are not. I'm not fond of all the asymmetric stuff, and last year the prints mad it look like you were wearing the Turin Shroud! Their knitwear is nice. And I have a couple of coats I really like.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/04/2015 18:44

I like the colours but most of it is v over-priced for the quality, and lots of it is too long and drapey for me. Their leather jackets are gorgeous though. That's the only thing I've bought in there in the last six years or so though - other stuff either doesn't appeal, or is too expensive.

ihatethecold · 15/04/2015 18:48

They do bloody lovely shoes and boots though!
If I had a disposable income I would buy tons of them.

Haven't seen the clothes though.

KissyBoo · 15/04/2015 18:51

I am hankering after this completely impractical suede jacket but look what they have put it with.... Confused

Not good.

skillsandtea · 15/04/2015 18:53

They also do a lot of those weird backward tops where there's a big gaping hole or buttons on the back. I don't get that.

Valsoldknickers · 15/04/2015 19:01

No way! I think the Per Una comparison is very unfair as demonstrated by Burnished.

CointreauVersial · 15/04/2015 19:06

Skills - I agree! Impossible to wear a bra with some of their tops, so who the hell are they aimed at?

Dare I say it, I probably suit the Per Una colour palette more than the MV one. All that putty and khaki does nothing for me.

The one MV item I own is a pair of white jeans - and they were from the charity shop.

BabyGanoush · 15/04/2015 19:13

It was nice until 2/3 years ago when it all went polyesterySad

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/04/2015 19:15

That jacket is bloody gorgeous. Drool.

burnishedsilver · 15/04/2015 19:18

I have to agree about polyester. Nobody likes polyester but even the high end the shops are full of it lately.

Owllady · 15/04/2015 19:21

It used to be nice, about 4 years ago but I took photos and made them at home

Confused

Owllady · 15/04/2015 19:22

There has been really poor cotton harvests haven't there the last few years? Hence poly/nylon etc

TinklyLittleLaugh · 15/04/2015 19:28

My bestie loves Mint Velvet. She is 50, slim, and classy. I find it quie dull actually, I like a bit more colour.

DarylDixonsDarlin · 15/04/2015 19:35

Mint velvet doesn't appeal to me at all. Just as well because I cant afford anything there anyway!

There are often per Una items (tops/dresses/skirts, not their trousers) which I really like. The only thing which stops me buying them, is that their tops are too short in the body for me. I did buy a black winter coat from there in the autumn.

And yes everything readily accessible in the high street shops at the moment seems to be polyester!

PrimalLass · 15/04/2015 19:43

OK, more limited collection than per una.

Although per una seems even worse than usual this year.

pinkfrocks · 15/04/2015 20:37

I buy a top or trousers very occasionally but the dresses are weird. I love the muted colours but not the floaty styles- all a bit Helena Bonham Carter-ish- especially their black offerings.

lurkingaround · 15/04/2015 22:38

Love that dove suede jacket.

YouFargingIceHole · 15/04/2015 22:48

I think mint velvet is where all the kids who shop at all saints must graduate to when they get older.
