Repairing split ends without having to cut hair

Hi

I have chest length hair which is alright condition but lots of styling tools have left me with lots of split ends which go quite high up hair shaft. I'm tempted to get a long bob but think I'd regret cutting it after years trying to grow it. Is there a way to repair the ends without cutting a load off?

You sound like me, but in the end I just went for it and cut about 2 inches off. For the first couple of days it felt 'short' (it wasn't!) and now it feels longer than it did before, and looks before because the length is there in thickness and not just straggly split ends! You can try oil, I recommend Macadamia Oil, but it will only do so much if what your hair really needs is a trim.
