Jacket too snug - interview's tomorrow

Would a cardigan be an acceptable alternative? Sensible mid blue coloured one? Thin material not big long boyfriend style one.

I'd be wearing the black suit skirt, tights, smart shoes, scarf (thin type, not wooly), hair and make up all done just the cardigan instead of the jacket.

It's actually an informal chat (which is never really informal) for a work placement in a science based industry so no fashionistas.

Yes it would be perfectly fine. I've never worn a suit jacket to an interview.

Define "too snug" - can't get your arms in it, or can't close it?

Wearing too tight clothes will look worse than looking a bit too casual. I wouldn't even notice if you couldn't close your jacket [within reason if you couldn't move your arms Grin ]

A jacket would be better though unless you have visited before and know that it's quite casual - can't you borrow one from someone?

Also I assume you will wear something under the cardigan apart from a bra?

Is it a heavy cardigan or something a jacket would usually be worn over?

It's very tight....I feel like a trussed up Turkey in it and there are unsightly bulges...

The cardigan is hip length, fine material, new and just one colour. I'd have a scarf and was thinking of wearing a black top of light tshirt material but you wouldn't really see it due to Cardi and scarf.

I wouldn't normally wear a jacket over this cardi but it's quite warm at the moment.

I suppose the jacket would do if I sat ramrod straight and didn't do any elaborate exhaling Grin

Oops - sorry, never saw your response. How did it go in the end?

DisenchantedPony · 16/04/2015 21:56

It went fine thanks Smile I wore the Cardi as I felt more comfortable but I'm getting more serious about my diet so that jacket will fit in the future! I got through to the next stage - phew!
