I would like to smell of lavender...

I have lavender oil but it doesn't seem to last on my skin. Anyone know of any long-lasting lavender smells that aren't too ££?

Thank you.

L'occitane!

Misssss · 14/04/2015 10:23

Yardley, they have loads of products, soap, shower gel, lotion, perfume, talc etc. so you can layer the scents. Really cheap too.

Fabulassie · 14/04/2015 10:25

I think M&S have a line of lavender products and I am pretty sure Yardley are at Boots.

boobashka · 14/04/2015 10:44

Thanks for the tips! Please be honest - do you think I will smell like an old granny if I wear it?

I just love the smell! Smile

Yes m&s do a line called Floral Collection. I used to use the 'Rose' products which were lovely! Here's the lavender collection, there's lots of different products! (Excuse the random lingerie at the beginning of the page!)

Another vote for L'Occitane! The lavender smell is very authentic - much more Provence garden than old granny!

LMGTFY · 14/04/2015 11:02

I'm really sorry but the smell of lavendar makes me think of old ladies, not being goady or unkind but you did ask.

LMGTFY · 14/04/2015 11:03

Lavender, sorry for the spelling mistake.

Fabulassie · 14/04/2015 11:05

I don't think smelling of lavender will make people perceive you as "old." It's a nice, fresh smell. If you like it, that is what matters most.

VenusRising · 14/04/2015 11:09

Lavender is coming back as an aroma, now that the little old ladies with their toilet waters are shuffling off their mortal coils.

I love lOccitaine lavander and also one I got in ireland, from a perfume company called fragrances of ireland- it's a beautiful lavander and musk smell. It's called Sonas, and it's amazing. They're online: you can ask them to send you a sample.

boobashka · 14/04/2015 14:15

Thanks everyone. Sample ordered from Fragrances of Ireland.

Ready to embrace my inner Granny!! Smile

dr organics lavender everything

ElizabethHoover · 14/04/2015 14:19

i love lavender but hate the soapy modern version

Have you tried L'Occitane?

Twinklestein · 14/04/2015 14:19

The reason the essential oil doesn't last on your skin is because it has no alcohol to preserve it.

You can make your own with lavender essential oil + vodka. Google for a recipe.

I don't like any of the L'Occitane sprays, they give me a headache.

Twinklestein · 14/04/2015 14:20

The old lavender scent ladies used to wear smells nothing like lavender essential oil.

Annarose2014 · 14/04/2015 14:23

Caldy Island Lavender is meant to be one of the best - its made by monks on Caldy Island. I had a sample of it once.

By the way, you can buy samples online of everything. I used to use The Perfumed Court and got samples of some amazing fragrances that way and its cheap as chips.

Annarose2014 · 14/04/2015 14:24

Oh and check out Jicky by Guerlain. That has a lavender top note and was one of my faves. Smells clean and unisex.

boobashka · 14/04/2015 15:03

LOVE the sound of the homemade lavender spray Twinklestein. Will give that a go too.

[Pops off to buy first bottle of Voddie since 1997]
