Is this skirt worth £110?

i am very taken with this jigsaw skirt and almost bought it last night but managed to restrain myself for a "cooling off period " - I haven't really cooled off though and still really like it.

Could I have any thoughts? I'm size 12 btw. Shall I buy it... I've not seen it in real life!

Is it worth £110?

Not to me.

I haven't got a problem with spending on clothes but it looks like a very ordinary pencil skirt in a dated pattern. Dull and frumpy. Is it in a luxe fabric?

KoalaDownUnder · 14/04/2015 08:52

No. Not from what I can see here.

Is there a better picture you could link to?

SpanishMoss · 14/04/2015 08:54

I'd get some vintage curtains, and have one made Smile

Hope that link works?

So far no one likes it then?

I don't think I'd buy any skirt for that amount of money!

SnotQueen · 14/04/2015 09:15

What's it made of?

What do you love about it? I'm not loving it but if you make a good argument for it, then.......I still won't like it.

ditavonteesed · 14/04/2015 09:16

unless a skirt would make my ample figure look like a size 8 and do the washing, no skirt is worth £110. Plus it's really ugly.

RL20 · 14/04/2015 09:16

I'm afraid I would have to agree that no skirt is worth £110 Shock. There's nearly always a cheaper alternative

Greengardenpixie · 14/04/2015 09:23

I dont like the print personally. It depends, is it worth it to you? If you love it loads and can afford it, buy it! Or try it and send it back if you dont like it.

rollonthesummer · 14/04/2015 09:28

No.

I love skirts, but no way is that worth £110. I'm sure they had lots of similar things in Peacocks recently!

Emo76 · 14/04/2015 09:40

you seem to love it, why not try it and see if it is worth that to you?

burnishedsilver · 14/04/2015 09:42

I like it. You could wear it at any time of year. However it is over priced.

bereal7 · 14/04/2015 09:43

If you love it then buy it - that's all that matters really. You can always send it back if you don't like it on you.

SouthernComforts · 14/04/2015 09:47

How old are you (roughly)? Where would you wear it? I don't like the pattern or the length/shape.

TheRealMaryMillington · 14/04/2015 09:49

No it's not, there is not even very much material in it! Jigsaw
a. has become even more frumpy of late
b. styles things horribly on their website
but
c. uses beautiful fabrics, so it is probably much nicer in real life.

But it depends really on how it fits into you wardrobe, what you have that you can wear it with etc. If you already have all the right tops/jackets/shoes and it will liven them up or give you new ways to wear them then it might be a good purchase.

CMP69 · 14/04/2015 09:54

Sadly no skirt is worth that on my budget Sad . It's a nice enough skirt and if you like it and can comfortably afford it why not?

NigellasGuest · 14/04/2015 10:14

I know there's probably loads of similar skirts in tesco or peacocks and all those places but i want something well made and not flimsy IYSWIM. For a start, stuff from those places tends not to be lined and looks bad after a couple of washes.

Yes I have loads of complementary stuff in my wardrobe. Where would I wear it? I don't know - just around and about I guess!

I thought the colour was nice and that the pattern is fine away from the face. I want something to brighten me up a bit as I'm inclined towards blacks, greys, dark blues. Hmmm the consensus is overpriced garish rubbish it appears .....

QueenCardigan · 14/04/2015 10:20

I really like it. I think it comes in blue/green as well which I personally prefer. S it worth £110? Probably not but are there any items of clothing which are worth their price? If you can afford it, love it and will get lts of wear from it then get it.

Greengardenpixie · 14/04/2015 10:37

How old are you?
I would wear that with opaque tights and boots and even with a tan and sandals on holiday and i am 47!!!

OP, tbh having a second look at it, its a nice shape. Its not my colour or print but everyone has their own taste. It would be nice with a black top and could do all year round, season wise.

I agree with the comment Are any clothes worth their price
Totally not. They probably cost a few pounds to make and sell well over the price. The only difference with the likes of Boden, Jigsaw, Toast and companies like this is that you cannot buy the print anywhere else or that style, but they can be 'copied' but not exactly.

Buy it if you love it. Otherwise, in my experience, it will nag at you!

ActingBusy · 14/04/2015 10:37

maybe it looks amazing in real life but I personally think it looks like it should be about 7 quid in Primark.

NigellasGuest · 14/04/2015 11:27

Perhaps I should have a look in real life. I really want a good quality above the knee skirt that's not black. I don't get what my age has to do with it though ,..

OP posts:
mowglik · 14/04/2015 11:32

I agree it looks like a pretty cheap skirt nothing outstanding about it and the floral print is everywhere right now inc in primark peacocks etc, so nothing luxe about the print either

Have a look on shopstyle for similar skirts for a more reasonable piece that will scratch that itch for you!

cathyandclaire · 14/04/2015 11:34

I like it. DD has a similar shaped a-line skirt from Jigsaw and it is a wonderfully flattering and easy to wear shape.
Any voucher codes around?

LoonvanBoon · 14/04/2015 11:37

Is the skirt silk? I like the print but then I've tried on the top in the same print (Jigsaw call it a silk front jumper rather than a top) & it's lovely IRL. Wouldn't have given it a second look if I'd only seen it on the website.

The top's £98 though so I haven't bought it & am hoping it will be reduced at some point. Does anyone know if Jigsaw has any sales before the Summer sale? They don't seem to have had a Spring mid season one as yet.

Rafaella · 14/04/2015 14:16

I have that skirt (sorry all of you who hate it!). I almost never buy expensive clothes and agonised over it for weeks but I have no regrets. I wear it once a week for work with a different top - black, red, white all work - and feel great in it. Even dh said he liked it and he never notices anything I wear (obvs didn't tell him how much it cost!). Definitely try it on and if you like it and can afford it, buy it!
