What ridiculously expensive skin care product was worth it to you?

I'm going through a high end skin care phase and some of it is just so bloody lovely and I will be repurchasing. I generally try and sample stuff before the big spend, obviously. Being Content have a nice sample service for £3.

I do love high end products and although I'm not so daft to think that they perform miracles, I enjoy using them, they make me look nice ( well ish! ) and I love discovering new brands.

My recommendations - and loves - are Omorovicza products, Eve Lom cleansing balm, Pai products , Sisley lip balm and Peter Thomas Roth pumpkin enzyme mask.

I could go on forever though!

Nabootique · 13/04/2015 09:32

I just bought the PTR mask! Only used it once so far but I love it.

What do you use from Omorovicza? I just tried out a sample of the thermal cleansing balm, which I had high hopes for, but found it to be much runnier than expected and a bit meh. Like the look of the brand though.

I'm loving Tata Harper and at the moment, and the Dr. Dennis Gross alpha beta peel pads are amazing. Giving Oskia a go and I do like them a lot, but I'm not sure they're worth quite that much money. The PTR mask is better than their Renaissance mask, I think, and it's cheaper.

Ysl forever youth serum

Chanel precision hydramax gel

I really like Omorovicza at the moment, I have their elemental emulsion, night cream and bb cream. It's the first time I'm spending on high-end skincare, I've only ever used La Roche Posay and Avene before.

I like the luxury factor, it makes skincare routine a pleasure. But I still rely on LRP/Avene for the retinols and acids. I know that I'm paying for the 'pleasure' factor rather then the 'function'.

I've started using Zelens suncream as well, and as much as I like it, I think I'll be going back to LRP. It's not quite nice enough for the price and I don't like skimping on the amount of suncream to save product.

Botox.

Alibabsandthe40Musketeers · 13/04/2015 09:55

Elemis marine cream.

I ran out, and thought I would use something else that was already in my drawer. Huge mistake.

Am going to buy another pot today.

Nabootique · 13/04/2015 09:58

I think if something feels nicer on the skin, then maybe I spend more time massaging it in or whatever, which then benefits my skin. I got a sample of MV Organics Instant Revival Booster (facial oil, basically) and my god! It feels so lovely that I spend ages rubbing it in. I think the sample (sent it tiny pot rather than official sample) is about 2ml and I've got four applications out of it so far, so you only need a tiny bit. The full size is £59

Temple spa, love the stuff. My skin is difficult and reacts badly with a lot of products. But trying out all the temple spa prescription products, and the masks I have found the perfect ones, and my skin has never looks so good.

Nabootique · 13/04/2015 10:00

I know what you mean Alibabs. I have quite a bit of stuff I want to use up, so used a cheap cleanser this morning and my skin squeaked! Shock In. The. Bin. I think my face has gotten spoilt and though "WTF is this?"

Elemis proradiance skin clenser the one with neroli bergamotand cedarwood 200ml for£29 in debenhams online only tho. Youonly need a small blob its lovley and lasts ages!

Fauxlivia · 13/04/2015 10:11

I was given a Lancome skin care gift set for Christmas. The moisturiser was glorious (the one in the gold pot, sorry can't remember the name). Went to buy another pot and it's £140!!!! Out of my league so I am back to boots protect and perfect. But if I had the disposable income I would definitely buy the Lancome again.

PrimroseVilliers · 13/04/2015 11:42

I've been using all the Omorovicza range as I bought a couple of travel sized sets. The replenishing night cream is lovely but at £105 for 30mls I don't think I'd go for it. I'm happy to pay up to 60 ish for a moisturiser but £105 is a step too far for me.

I also rate Jouer - their matte moisture tint is lovely and the Oskia Renaissance mask is really nice on

lurkingaround · 13/04/2015 12:05

100 for 30mls??!!! And 140 for Lancome??!! Omg.

I know it might be lovely to use but I'd really like proper results for that money. Botox is far better value!

PrimroseVilliers · 13/04/2015 12:52

I often think about Botox but am worried I'd just look no different

OopTheShard · 13/04/2015 12:59

Eve Lom cleanser and Clarins Boue Orchid Oil.

Have downgraded to a cheapo hot cloth cleanser and Trilogy facial oil (not cheap...but cheaper!). But those two were products I think were worth the spend.

I also just got a tiny free sample of Clarins super restorative day cream and used it today. My skin feels amazing. If I had the dough, I'd buy it.

HazleNutt · 13/04/2015 13:04

I always go back to DECLÉOR Aromessence Excellence Ultra-Regenerating Serum.

Recent discovery, not as expensive - Dr Hauschka Soothing Intensive Treatment. I never thought of my self as having sensitive skin, but a beautician I recently used thought so. So got this treatment and I've only used it for a little more than a week, but the difference is so noticeable that people have been commenting on how great my skin looks.

Nabootique · 13/04/2015 13:09

I really want that Blue Orchid oil. If I do get it I will justify it by saying "well, at least it wasn't the £98 Sunday Riley one you really, REALLY wanted"! Grin

OP posts:
Leviticus · 13/04/2015 13:17

I don't think the blue orchid oil is that expensive. It lasts forever, far longer than a cream so price per application is pretty good.

OopTheShard · 13/04/2015 13:22

Ah see, I slather on facial oil, so get through it quite quickly. I know they say 'you only need a few drops', but I like a good squirt of it Grin.

Funnily enough, when i first started using Trilogy, I was using a few tiny drops and wondered what all the fuss was about. But when I started using almost a whole pipettes worth, my siin was sussdenly SO much better.

Same with cleansers. I switched to Superdrug Vit E cloth cleanser from Eve Lom because I like to double clenase every night with a proper blob of it. Cant justify that with Eve Lom.

Oh, and just thought of another one. Chanel hydramax face mask. Got it as a gift. Its delicious and great for when your skin feels period-grott or hangover-grotty.

OopTheShard · 13/04/2015 13:27

Alibaba - feelunique.com are doing a 25% off deal on Marine cream Grin

DrankSangriaInThePark · 13/04/2015 13:31

Agree with the Elemis cleanser (but won't buy the Marine Cream again it's watery and full if silicones which is, I've learned, why anything on top 'bobbles')

I used to love love love Dior Capture serum, back in the days before serums were such a huge buzzword.

L'Occitane divine is worth it. Though the fact it smells like a cat has widdled on your face is offputting......Grin

DrankSangriaInThePark · 13/04/2015 13:32

There was an Elemis special on QVC yesterday....including the MC and the fabby cleanser.

bertieboo · 13/04/2015 13:42

Skinceutcials - C E Ferulic
It's very expensive (£126 for 30ml - you can buy it cheaper online) but this serum has transformed by skin texture, and a little goes a long way.

mowglik · 13/04/2015 13:50

How high end do you mean? I love elemis pro-radiance cleanser and Emma hardie cleansing balm. I pretty much sorted my blemishy spot prone skin in my 20s using epidermx microdermabrasion and oil cleansing, but it wasn't until I started to use elemis cleanser that my skin looked really soft and glowy. I have quite tough skin so for it to look delicate is quite a big step in skincare for me lol

Also love Geurlain midnight secret - always use after a late night and my skin doesn't look haggard like it usually does. Also use revive renewal cream which is very ££ but I may replace it with elemis marine cream which is about to become the hg cream for me

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 13/04/2015 13:57

I've never found any of them worth it. Not sure why, but I think it's that I'm just not really a skincare aficionado. Although I did love my Jurlique face cream that was really thick and rich. Lovely!

Might try that Clinique oil as I've heard so many good things about it. Also planning on some Botox, as I think there's onky so much that lotions and potions can do. And my 11's look, unintentionally, pretty fierce.
