Nothing much nice in the shops!

I had a wander round Mcr City Centre today. I couldn't find a thing I liked.

Zara/Mango- badly made and overpriced for the quality
Reiss- just too short/tight and dressy
M&S- beyond dull and full of man made fibres,
Lk Bennett- awful colours and as always very pricey ( used to be my favourite store but think it's gone right off)
French Connection- dull and samey
Whistles- a few things but it's very £££ for what is in there.

Really struggling to find some spring/summer clothes- I am practically living in a pair of faux leather trousers for going out. I generally like Baukjen and Whistles. Not keen on patterns unless a subtle animal print, I like Winter colours, nothing frilly or fussy.

Is it just me who can't find much. I don't mind spending a bit ( high end high street as opposed to designer).

Yep agree. I used to love Zara
I get stuff from COS and and other stories now- have u tried these?. You have the same taste as me with some animal print and whistles
COS has fairly simple shapes
I like there they use a lot of merino wool but I need to remember to cold wash or it shrinks.
I get fake and leather jeggings from marks and spencer and love their shoes too......
I would also like suggestions of other places to go.....!

I think it's all really wintery still. I was wondering if more summer stuff will be released if when the weather warms up but shouldn't it really be out by now?

I'm a HOC autumn so some colours are good for me but I can't see any if it being right for the summer. I need to get some holiday bits and there's bugger all.

I nearly started a similar post....

I'm hoc autumn too and struggle with summer clothes (& hate patterns).

I do a lot of shopping online, it can be a bit hit and miss but sometimes I find some great stuff. Usual go-tos are la redoute, people tree, braintree, joe Browns, h&m etc

Zara goes off in the Spring/Summer in my experience. Their AW stuff is much nicer. Waaaay too much petrol blue and cream/ivory/horrible dirty off-white everywhere! Really pissing me off as I'm a winter HOC and need some nice cool white and navy separates.

I had some success with rooting through H&M the other day (usually bypass it, as it looks a bit flimsy and young for my style) but found some nice Spring stuff (took a lot of trying on, though). Also got a few nice bits in Warehouse and Mint Velvet.

Hopefully the shops will bring in new stock soon!

I am lazy and like department stores these days, rather than trailing from shop to shop. Often try lots of stuff on, go home and think about it, then order online. Less stressful than walking up and down a high street.

I'm glad you said that, I thought it was just me.

I went to Westfield in East London a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to buy a new top, but was also having a general browse. Everything was crap.

I did recently buy a top from Zara. I never shop in Zara as I don't like most of their clothes on me, but I went in because everywhere else was crap and I thought I'd give it a go.

There are nice items in most shops, but often hidden amongst the crap.

Oasis has some nice new season clothes for decent basics in ok lighter colour, summery styles.

TheMightyMing · 10/04/2015 22:17

Looked at Cos today in Selfridges - not blown away.
I like quality items which don't date, I am not one for buying cheap and getting rid.

Very frustrating!
